The drivers could try to protest if they stayed united, but I'm not sure if it would work out. I don't think that the teams would like to boycott the races in behalf of the drivers. There are some drivers whose seats aren't as guaranteed as with some more higher rated drivers so they don't want to risk their job because of this. As we've seen in the past, the races will be held, no matter what. Even if there's just 6 drivers competing there.

The superlicense costs don't treat the drivers equally, though. For drivers like Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton the costs don't matter that much. But Kubica's salary, for instance, is less than three million euros. His manager takes part of it and Kubica even pays taxes to Italy. So in that sense the 170000 euros Kubica has to pay doesn't feel that good. Obviously the costs are higher than anywhere else and nobody ever wants to have any additional expenses.

If he's only on that money why aren't he and his agent banging on Theissen's door asking far a wage increase? He was a championship contender,he's worth far more than that.

Yes, but Kubica's contract was made earlier when he wasn't yet a championship contender. I don't know how long his current contract is, but taking account the current economic situation, I don't think he can ask for much increase.

Its crazy to think that since a driver preformed well in the season he should pay more than the guys who didnt. It should just be a set fee for all drivers regardless of your season ending points total. Plus the FIA had just increased the price the year before and now its another increase. I' wouldnt be happy about it either if i was a driver. And shame on those drivers who folded early. They should have stayed united with the other drivers and waited for all drivers to pay their superlicences.

Apparently it is 3 drivers who have already had their license fees submitted by their teams. My guess is that 2 of those 3 are the Ferrari drivers, seeing as they are not members of the GPDA.

GPDA said that every driver feels the same way about the super license fees, the non-members too. But obviously everybody has to pay if they want to race in Melbourne.

How would Bernie benefit from FIA's money? F~0~M and FIA are totally different entities and Bernie and Mosley are constantly fighting. Actually Mosley wants Bernie to give more money to the teams while at the same time he rises the super license fees getting more money to FIA. ''hmm''

Cos Bernie's a money making-machine,and Max probably slips him a few quid now and then to maintain his support.Also FIA must give F~0~M some money from time to time,which goes in Bernie's back pocket.

Addressed openly to all F1 drivers from Indy Racing League management, it said: "Know that IndyCar Series teams would welcome your participation in the 2009 or beyond season should you follow FIA president Max Mosley's suggestion of looking elsewhere to ply your trade.

"Please note that an IndyCar Series license fee is only $1,000 (U.S.) - a bargain that includes your/three guest hard cards for venue admittance, participant accident medical insurance coverage and other benefits. There are no closing fees, user fees, points fees or even landing fees for your aircraft."

Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, announced on Monday it has agreed to reduce the fees for superlicences from the 2010 season.

Drivers had been unhappy about the huge hike in fees that was introduced at the start of the 2008 season, and were aiming to talk discuss the matter with FIA president Max Mosley.

But the ruling body said on Monday that, following a meeting between members of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association and Mosley, it has been agreed that a reduced fee will be introduced from the following season.

"Following a very positive meeting between FIA President Max Mosley and representatives of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA), a proposal will be made to the World Motor Sport Council to revise superlicence fees for drivers in the 2010 championship," said the FIA in a statement.

"A reduced fee would reflect the major cost reductions that will be brought into the sport for next season.

"A number of other issues were discussed and the FIA has agreed to meet representatives of the GPDA on a regular basis to maintain what promises to be a constructive dialogue."

No financial details were given on the new fees.

Didn't say how much it is so hard to tell but I'm glad to see Mosley backing off as he was quite adamant last time this was brought up.
