Peterson was just so talented, the way he could slide the car...
Could have won in 1978 but was loyal to Andretti
Before that, he showed his talent in some cars that weren't the class of the field.
Finally, just a thought, maybe you have Barrichello there a little prematurely?

Moss easily, I'm blown away every time I remember he never won it all.

Peterson and Villeneuve are also great, and Von Trips would have likely won in '61 had he not died in the last race.
Fingers Crossed for Raikkonen at McLaren!!

I voted for Gilles Villeneuve. If he didn't die in 1982, he would anyway be a world champion.

But don't forget Stiling Moss. He was four-times in a row second in the championship.

David Coulthard has the most victories without a world title.

Rubens Barrichello has the most points without a world title.

I would say Pierluigi Martini.Would of loved to see him in a more competitive car.

Verstappen too.

It's hard to vote when they aren't from my era. No way DC though. Out performed by team-mates almost his whole career, lucky to be in a top team for so long.

Gilles or Stirling from old stories and videos I have seen of those guys

I voted Gilles

Verstappen was my favourite driver but I didn't think he was that amazing. Just a great entertainer. Wasn't he in Benetton with Schumacher in 1994? Didn't really do much.

David coulthard? Really you can't compare him to someone like Gilles Villenueve. Coulthard spent most of his career in a car capable of winning. 4 years in a row he had a shot at the title and was never able to do it. Villenueve was a talent, he has that extra special edge of speed, Hamilton reminds me of him in some ways, always pushing.

Yes he was, just raw speed! Bit too aggressive some times, but he was an entertainer yeah

Remember the technical veto that Ferrari had and the fact that basically, every championship from 01 to 2005, ferrari was nearly what.... a second a lap quicker?

And DC was very unlucky not to win a WDC, he should have one to his name, he is a damn good driver but unfortunatly he was in the wrong era of F1.

Mclaren forced him to be Number 2 to mika (gentlemans agreement and that rubbish), then When kimi came along, he did lead McLaren until ron favoured kimi who did start to out perform.

Funny how both came away from mclaren happier than ever, and to be honest more successful than ever.

True. But DC in 1999 had his chance to be WDC and blew it in Europe (Nurburgring)
