Alonso to Ferrari in 2011 (or in 2010)

Post by iceman1 » 29 Dec 2008, 05:48

Alonso to Join Ferrari in 2011 ?

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/28122008/ ... eport.html

Eurosport is quoting La Gazzetta dello Sport which is Italian numero uno sport paper I guess they have good connections inside Ferrari.

Aljazeerasport channel put this rumor as a fact on sport news

Hmm. Dont know how the Tifosi will react to this. My understanding is that they are quite split over Sr Alonso. Mind you, 2011 is a long way (and numerous get-out clauses) away!

Indeed it is, and in theory (and given the experiences of both parties :) ) some of the get out clauses will be directly related with the prior performance of team/driver before the 2011 season. Alonso will want to make sure Ferrari aren't in the doldrums before he goes there, and vice versa..
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

According to Autosport , there are get-out clauses on both sides of the agreement between Alonso and Ferrari, and although 2011 is the proposed start-date, the Spaniard could be installed into a Ferrari in 2010 if Kimi Raikkonen doesn’t improve during this upcoming season.

According to some rumors Alonso has been driving Ferrari since 2008 already... :p

Kimi probably retires after 2010 so I don't care much what happens in 2011. Alonso driving Ferrari in 2010 sounds a bit awkward as he would have two contracts at the same time then. As for Kimi's performance in 2008, the real reasons lie elsewhere, but I won't get into that.

he'll probably emulate schumi's achievements at ferrari - both double back to back world champions from previous teams, then joining ferrari - i think alonso can win 2 more wdc's (at least) or 4 (at most) in a ferrari.

I'm not making any comparisons, because frankly I don't think Alonso's achievements will match Schumi's, but their careers have been uncannily similar so far.

I'm fed up with all these rumors but apparantly everybody'd love to see. Internet sites are happy since they increase their hits. Fans are happy since they want to see/hear something about F1 during winter time. Ferrari are happy as their brand value and prestige get a boost during non-racing days even if they do not need. Alonso is happy for the same reason. I think everybody is happy except me. Yes, I should keep my mouth close down.

Btw, I believe Ferrari and Alonso were already in agreement as Santander will start to sponsor for Ferrari in 2010, which would be considered as a basis to this rumor.

It's attention for the sites.
It's hope for the fans in a time with little or no other F1 news.
It's a chance to moan for the detractors in a time with little or no other F1 news.
It's a headline for Ferrari.
It's Alonso happy he's got headlines, especially those which portray him as the best talent in F1.
It's annoying for you, because you know it's got no foundation as of yet.. :)

What else are we to do as desperate F1-fanatics (well, most of us)? I personally like rampant speculation. It's fun trying to deduce the truth from the lies. Other people clearly like it for this reason too.

The same can be seen with the Honda saga. One dodgy Italian paper says a name and the next day, everyone knows who Carlos Slim is, and then the next day, both Slim and Honda say "Not true!", and we all forget about it again.

F1 is about experience and the hope, the change, the death and new growth of teams are all part of it my friend.. :p

I think Ferrari would be ONE solution. But there are maybe others in 2011. Think about BMW again, and maybe there will be other teams, or Renault is back in business again, and Alonso wants to stay there. So you can prmise nothing by now, and don't believe the newspapers and F1 sites, it's all speculation by now.

According tho Alonso manager, Alonso would love to join Ferrari.

But I think Raikkonen has at least 2 more seasons with Ferrari, and if he retire at the end of 2010, Alonso should go to Ferrari.

If Renault has back to their old performance and Alonso choose to stay with them at 2011, Ferrari should bring Vettel to the team as a replacement of Raikkonen. :)

who wouldn't???

I think that if renault up their game and become championship contenders again, alonso will probably stay there (he will remember the last time he left renault for another team :laugh1: )

Vettel in a ferrari is something i'm hoping for- Sebastian Vettel World Champion 2011! (if he hasn't already won it by then)
