I'm surprised Kimi hasn't found a way out of this-I can't see him even remotely enjoying meeting fans.Maybe Ferrari gave him 7 vodka bottles to persuade him.

You say the test times are useless, but they provide good pointers for how quick the runners are.The teams in Bahrain all seem competitive,Renault look quick but I'm not sure if they're genuinely that quick or if they're simply getting a quick time to look good.McLaren seem to have built another solid car,the other teams we can't adjudge whether they're quick or not. We'll get a proper judgement when they do more testing.

by why so serious
Ferrari, BMW and Toyota today started their 4-day test period in Bahrain. Kimi at Ferrari, Trulli at Toyota and Clien (!) at BMW will be in action today.

I really don't understand why BMW insist to use their test drivers instead of their full-time race drivers in such limited testing sessions. Kubica or Heidfeld should make as much as mile while their rivals are on their duties. It's just meaningless.

- Ferrari used a slightly different rearwing (the two planes having a greater distance between them) yesterday but it was only on the car for a few laps.

- Bridgestone is indeed experimenting with the tyre compounds in Bahrain. Especially the soft compound is being tested a lot as it will be one of the two compounds (the other being probably being the medium one) that will be used during the GP. The technicians from the tyre supplier also keep a close eye on the supersoft tyres. (When performing optimally) the difference in laptime between the compounds is around 1 second a lap.

- In the last hour the difference between Raikkonen and Klien was always 0,2 or 0,3 seconds a lap, depending on who used KERS and who didn't. In any case, Trulli, obviously not having the hybrid technology in the car, was clearly behind in this respect.

- The teams use the moveable flaps of the frontwing more and more. On the four straights at the circuit it obviously allowes for a greater topspeed having a lower angle of attack and it also makes for an extra 20 kg of downforce in corners when the flaps are being raised.

- As for Saturday and Sunday: Ferrari shot a commercial to promote their theme park in Abu Dhabi. Various camera cars, a helicopter and other techniques were used to carry out the work.
