I hope the teams in Bahrain are given some extra days running seeing as 2 have been lost to a sandstorm.

Ferrari, Toyota and BMW Sauber will probably continue testing next Saturday and Sunday to make up for lost time.

Luckily, no sandstorm today in Bahrain! :lol:

By AFCA ;

"The track was very slippery in the morning, due to the sand, but we managed to go ahead with our programme," Kimi said at the end of the day. "It's a pity for the time we lost over the last days, but it didn't depend on us. This happens and you just have to accept it. My first day with the new F60 on a dry track was extremely positive. I immediately had a good feeling although it's still too early to say where we are compared to our competitors. The car is improving and there are no especially critical areas. We used the KERS also today and I'm happy with how it works, apart from some minor childhood disease."

No weekend extension for Bahrain test

Feb.13 (GMM) The group test organised at Bahrain will not be extended to include Saturday and Sunday.

Following the disruptive sandstorms in the island Kingdom this week, BMW-Sauber and Toyota had requested that the session be extended to include the weekend.

But the Dutch portal f1today.nl reports that Ferrari did not agree to the extension, having booked the Sakhir circuit for exclusive days of promotional shooting.

promotional shooting?! how is that more important than developing the car into a championship winner? :huh:

Promotional shooting? I don't believe that,if Ferrari have really booked the circuit and sacrificed a weekend's testing for "Promotional Shooting" that's ridiculous.Maybe they're trying to sabotage BMW and Toyota's testing schedule,or maybe they packed up expecting more sandstorms and now have decided to make up for it by doing more testing at Fiorano.Or a combination,but marketing should never get ahead of racing,I don't believe Ferrari are telling the whole truth here.

Understandable, where do you think photos for adverts come from?

This would have been booked well in advance.

Since the launch of the McLaren I've thought their rear wing looks 2008ish, it's not as tall and thin as the others, but I've never actually read that mentioned anywhere :S

Can anyone confirm that this is actually there 09 wing or if they are yet to introduce it? :confused:

nope....it's not the 2009 spec wing but actually a modified 2008 rear wing. they're supposed to be waiting for a "high-downforce" 2009 spec rear wing that's still being produced in mclaren tech center.

from mclaren.com.....
The conclusion of a highly productive second test for MP4-24 at the Circuito de Jerez in Andalucia, southern Spain. Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton shared driving duties, with Heikki heading up the test’s first two days and Lewis concluding the work on Thursday and Friday. While the opening day was briefly marred by a midday rainshower, the remainder of the programme was carried out under clear blue skies and warm sunshine, allowing the team to put some serious mileage on the new car. The majority of the four days was spent finessing the new car’s balance and set-up on slick tyres while also putting background miles on the KERS device – which proved largely trouble-free during all four days. The team carried out the majority of its running using a hybrid-spec 2008 rear wing in order to more effectively simulate expected downforce loads and will bring a raft of new components to next month’s test, back in Jerez.

Hmmm, at the moment it seems to be very equal, except for Renault, who seem to be lagging in outright performance, RBR look very good.
