Massa takes first win of 2009
Felipe Massa took a popular victory in the second leg of his charity karting event the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions at Florianopolis in Brazil today.
The Brazilian beat his former Ferrari team-mate Michael Schumacher to victory by just 0.087 seconds - the pair having fought through the field as their third and first places in yesterday's opening heat had left them starting down the order on the partially reversed grid.
Schumacher's combination of a win and a second place made him the outright champion of the annual event, ahead of Massa, who was having his first competitive race since his Hungaroring accident in July.
Rubens Barrichello had led the early laps of today's heat and eventually finished fourth behind IndyCar driver Vitor Meira.

Even Heidfeld is better
That´s what you said.
Bring on Hamilton, Michael would still teach him a lesson or two.
Glad to see Felipe in 2nd, should be good for his confidence approaching 2010.

Hmm, I feel a kart is a rather different proposition to a Formula One car. Not saying he's bad, but he has got the iffy neck and hasn't driver in anger since 2006.
Off-Topic: show
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

First laps for Massa in Mugello
http://www.f1technical.net/news/13898Felipe Massa had to wait until this afternoon for his very special Christmas present. The Brazilian driver wanted to get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 single-seater before the end of the year and took the opportunity of his visit to Maranello for the traditional Christmas events over the weekend to accomplish his desire.
The opportunity was supported by Ferrari’s Corse Clienti department, which provided Felipe with a F2007, the car, which won the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Titles two years ago, fitted with exposition tyres for the occasion.
The weather conditions at the “Autodromo del Mugello” enabled the Brazilian driver to go onto the track only in the afternoon.
Massa drove about 30 laps before he had to stop when it became dark: “I’m happy that I could get into this car and it’s always a pleasure driving on a track like Mugello. Everything went well: it’s a pity that I could only drive in the afternoon. Let’s hope I can be back tomorrow!”
In fact Felipe will also be in Mugello on Wednesday before he goes back to Brazil, where the little Felipinho and mother Raffaela are waiting for him.
