Wet Weather Visibility at night...

Post by total3d » 21 Jul 2008, 11:03

judging from the visibility from the onboard shots during the wet races this year and last year(eg: japan 07, monaco, silverstone), how do you think the f1 drivers will cope IF it rains during the inaugural f1 night race at singapore?

mark webber said last year that it will be impossible to see since the light will reflect off the rain.

Yeah I asked that question myself.

I think they might red flag the race if it rains heavily.

Good point from Webber.

What is the weather usually like in September?

I can't wait for this race. I really, really can't!!

Hard to tell... they didn't see much in Fuji last year either, but still managed to race and overtake people out there. So I don't think it would be any more dangerous as it is now already.

usually hot in singapore, but i dont know about september, but conditions should be fine.
im heading off to singapore to watch the race, it should be awesome.
believe it or not, but it was cheaper to get turn 1 tickets for the night race, than the AGP...

:shhh:

Can I ask you a question please Total3d?

How much is it costing you?

If you could break it down for me that would be excellent.

Example:

2 tickets for the race: X amount
2 flight tickets: X amount
Hotel accommodation: X amount

I was looking to go to Silverstone this year, but it would have cost at least £1000.00p!

2 X 3 days tickets in the most expensive part of the stadium: [at least] £600-£700.
2 X return train tickets: At least £100-£200
Hotel accommodation for at least 2 nights close to the GP: At least £150-£200?

That doesn't include food, travelling from the hotel to the GP and back for 3 days, buying stuff while you're there, going into the city after the GP etc etc.

Singapore is the Malaysia neighbour.
Ofcourse they have the same climate with Malaysia, having wet and dry condition for the whole year.
We have see a dry and extremely hot race condition in the evening at malaysia sepang circuit.
So, possibility having a night race shower at Singapore is there.
Can't wait to watch!

sorry mountford dont know the breakdown of the prices.
all i know is that we(parents) payed around $2500pp AUD, which was flights to and from on the a380(economy), 5-star accomodation near the track for 4 days, and 4 day ticket pass in turn 1 grandstand.
melbourne costs us less because its closer(im in sydney). but we worked it out that it would cost more pp if we had flights from singapore or another country plus accomodation.
we get cheap accomodation in melb from clients.

but i cant wait for the race!!!

This is definitely the most eagerly anticipated race for next year. Maybe even more than Monaco! #Fear

Will it depend on how much rain as well?

Obviously they aren't going to red flag a race if it's only light rain?

If it does happen, will it put any future races at this circuit in jeopardy? :<>:

come to singapore mountford, and i'll shout u a drink, or 2.
we were saving up for monaco gp next year, and found out that the singapore gp was cheaper, so we bought the tickets.

as for the race. slight rain might = safety car, if the reflection is a factor(drivers will say so),
heavy rain = red flag for sure.
no rain= one hell of a race!

im also wondering what the organisers will do about photography? i bet every1 will want a photo. and those with digital cameras, and not the full on crazy slr's with infrared flashes, will have their camera flashed go off all the time. will be a massive distraction to drivers.

The visibility almost zero if the rain fall
Like i said this race is too dangerous, they should race in daylight not in the night time
