2008 Car Launches & pictures
Re: 2008 Car Launches & pictures
The bodywork appendages stay faithful to the pod wing/chimney/T-wing arrangement of previous Renaults. The rear bodywork is even more tightly packaged than on its predecessors, to optimise airflow to the rear wing, while the wing itself retains the centrallysupported design introduced on the R26 to save weight without compromising rigidity.

Didn't exactly see that one coming as Renault has been designing R28 since last summer or so. We'll see...http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64940 wrote: Alonso says Renault a second behind
Two-time champion Fernando Alonso reckons the Renault team are currently nearly a second behind rivals McLaren or Ferrari.
"At the moment, we need to close the gap to the top teams, McLaren and Ferrari, because we are a little bit too far behind them," Alonso told reporters during the launch of the new Renault in Paris.
"At the moment, there is not any possibility to fight for podiums or wins, or things like that, so that is the first priority of this winter tests and the first race.
"To close the gap, and to be behind them two or three tenths is not such a big problem.
"But to be one second or eight tenths, like we are at the moment, is a little bit too much," the Spaniard added.

i think the renault looks pretty good, no huge changes other than that really cool looking front wing. very clever, its conected to the nose cone using the foils of the wing!
i also like those squashed little barge boards they have.
im surprised that it is over a second slower though, thats a lot of time to make up!!

Alonso also made it clear that he is doubtful that McLaren can win the title in 2008, and expressed relief that he broke his multiple-year contract after just 18 races with the British team.
Asked who has the biggest chances of the 2008 title following recent pre-season tests, he replied: "Ferrari, for sure."
the gap to Ferrari and Mclaren is too big,The most he can expect is to have a chance to win 1-2 races.

Enzo Ferrari quote refers to a red car with a prancing horse, not a car with split personalities...lol

Well I don't care if it's the ugliest thing in the world as long as it's fast!
And I don't think it's especially ugly either, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. :cheezy:

Re: 2008 Car Launches & pictures
The Renault is not that slow, Raikks. Watching the live timing of the tests this week, it would seem that they are roughly 6-8 tenths slower than the McLarens on longer stints. And there is still room for progress, cause they've been working on the new car since mid-last season, long before the top teams, who were still in the fight for the championship. So I wouldn't write them off this soon. I expect them to take BMW's place as the third force in F1 ATM. But I still hate the clown-like livery
Can March come any sooner?

We have elections here just a week before the 1st GP, that's why I'm looking forward to the elections date.Lilellatho wrote:The Renault is not that slow, Raikks.
