Spyker Consider Team Sale

Post by Super Aguri » 14 Aug 2007, 18:45

http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news/2007/08/ ... team-sale/
Spyker Cars is considering selling some or all of its Formula One team as part of a strategic review to refinance the entire organisation, the Dutch sports car company revealed this evening.

Spyker Cars has received much negative publicity about the state of its finances in recent months and in a statement said it has been forced to source additional funds to secure its position and continue investments.

"Of the various refinancing scenarios being considered, the (partial) sale of the Formula One team is one possibility," Spyker Cars said in a statement.

Spyker's F1 director Michiel Mol is known to be considering buying the team and would therefore step down from his position as CEO and director to prevent a conflict of interest.

The refinancing is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Super Aguri possibly selling part of the team, STR apparently thinking about it and now Spyker clearly having financial troubles.
I hope we don't see the field drop down to 20 odd cars again, we want more not less

This no good for F1 that Spyker and Aguri must sell some percent of their teams. After all that coast reduction in F1 it shows that's not enough for small teams. Big teams spend the same amount of money like before. I hope they will stay alive especially Aguri they achieved something already in F1 beating mother team Honda , score points !!! Everything with a little team.

That's sad news. I remember having read that they had ambitions to score points next year. With Sutil they have a driver that could achieve this success. And they have a beautiful car design too ;).

Very sad news to hear.

And this comes in a time when FIA is doing its utmost so that expenditure in F1 is reduced and not increased.

Its a shame, but aslong as its keeping a team on the grid its the best for the sport... It is sad though to see a team go... I really want Jordan back !grin! (just so I can hate them again :@:2)...

I'm Glad that they have been bought and are still on the grid as no-one wants to see another team go.

this team has absolutely no hopes of surviving in f1...
the owner has changed more than 4 times in the last 4 years, not including the engine manufacturer changes...
this is absolutely rediculous!!!
