First Grand Prix You Watched

Post by donald29 » 29 May 2007, 10:57

The first Grand Prix I remember watching fully was the 2000 Monaco Grand Prix. I was only 8 and got hooked, watching these amazing machines drive really close to the barriers at such high speed. I have not missed a Grand Prix since then. I remeber watching some of the 1999 British Grand Prix as I remeber someone crashing heavily into the barriers and getting injured (found out details later) but I didn't watch that race properly.

93 Monaco Grand Prix... I can just about remember it   I was like 4 and totally fell in love with Senna that day... Watched every Grand Prix since  ...

Though my family have always been into F1 so my first was probably before then but I think 4 is about the age I got hooked ;)...

F1 suffered what could be a critical blow when 14 drivers refused to compete because of concerns that their Michelin tyres might fail at the flat out turn 13..
Looking Forward for this GP :P

I watched quite a few before 1997 but the one I can most remember is Jerez 1997 for obvious circumatances.

Probably not the first but definitely the first I remember...

1984 Monaco Grand Prix when Senna was passing everyone and closing in on Prost (in the Renault?) before Wacky Jacky Ickx pulled out the red flag and ended the race half way through.

I remember my dad going nuts during the race while Senna was making some amazing passes in the rain and getting really mad after the race was red flagged...

I clearly remember asking him: "Quem e' Ayrton Senna?", and after a long explaination involing words like "Fittipaldi", "Piquet", "Monaco", "Spa-Francochamps", "Jacarepagua", "Brabham BMW", "Lotus", "turbo" e "Prost e' um Vagabundo" etc... beginning a love for F1 which lasts to this day.

:cheesy:
