Hamilton, sato & Button might be facing some kind of penalty after using 2 wet tyre sets in the first Free practice session this morning.

And the best of it is that Hamilton did only 10 laps today. I do not think he had the real need to change the tyre sets, on a wet track.

We'll see if they get a penalty or not.

On the other hand McLaren are claiming that Ferrari did not get any penalty at all after infringing another tyre rule (starting on slicks in Japan), so Hamilton must not get any penalty, either.

I guess we have just to wait and see.

Speed TV are reporting on air that Lewis' engineer claims Lewis used one set of extreme wets and one set of intermediates - not two sets of extreme wets. If true he should escape sanction as you are not allowed to use two of the same tyre type.

Article 25.3 of the F1 Sporting Regulations states: "No driver may use more than one set of wet and one set of extreme weather tyres during Practice 1 and Practice 2."

Thats good, if he was penalised on the grid that would have spoilt the racing between the 3 title contenders in my opinion. Tomorrow let the battle commence!!! !grin!

whenever i hear that hamilton is under investigation for something he or his team did wrong, i know now that nothing will com of it and to not expect a penalty...

i was surprised he even got a fine!

TS reports that the tyre rule has been only made to save on expenses etc, The FIA Stewards have ruled that Lewis Hamilton should be penalised for using two sets of wet tyres on Friday morning - but the fine of $22,000 and a voluntary agreement to surrender the partially-worn wets to the FIA so that they cannot be used.
Takuma Sato and Jenson Button received the same penalties

Spanish paper Marca had also asked from all of the drivers who would win the championship. Alonso got 8 votes, Hamilton 6 and Kimi 4. Four drivers voted nothing, including Kimi. Hamilton and Alonso voted for themselves

haha... this rules are encoded in Regulation's from start ...@ japan its was stewards decision to force start on extreme wet tyres which was taken just few minutes before the race
As Ferrari proved to FIA they dint receive mail on time !grin!

Dennis, whose team has been excluded last month from the 2007 constructors' championship, was also humorous about the situation, adding: "I just hope the stewards don't take the constructors' championship points away - oh, wait, they've already done that!"

This will be a great race, I hope it will rain. Because I don't think either Alonso or Kimi can be champions if the weather conditions are normal.
