Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
With the current (good) driving standards, the F1 race should be boring, although the likely traffic jam behind the fast-qualifying Mercedes cars might make some people lose their patience. It's very likely that some people (not only Mercedes) will try to gain track position by making as few pitstops as possible, potentially ending up with badly worn tyres. Whether that will translate into actual on-track action is anyone's guess!
No GP3 anymore, eh? That's actually sensible, except we've seen that the current GP2 field is just as bad. Hopefully no one will get killed.

The attributes of the Merc will make this one very exciting indeed. Lewis will probably start on pole, and then it's all about who can jump him during the race.

I love Monaco
Spoiler:
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Monaco is my favourite F1 circuit.
I predict a Raikkonen-Alonso-Massa podium, with Webber and Vettel in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Yes, I also love Monaco (not for the reasons you showed, though... ) This track - if you could call it that - has it's own magic through tradition and it's the only one on the calendar that is allowed to break any rule in the FIA track rulebook (lenght, witdh, time raced, time for FP...you name it...) just to keep it on the calendar. It's legendary.iceman1 wrote:I love MonacoSpoiler:
And furthermore (added in recent years) - DRS has no fuction here. Great. If you want to overtake you better do it properly. And it's doable but difficult. Plenty people have done it in the past - personally I'd like once again see the brilliant overtakes here in Monaco Fisichella did in 2006 - but it's not going to happen with today's yada yada s*** rules and tyres. Childs, there was a time when overtaking at Monaco meant something. Nowadays it's all up to tyres.
That said - Pirelli are bringing their feared supersofties once again. Whoever can manage them has a good opportuntiy to win race.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Monaco's even more amazing now. The cars are a little bigger and the barriers are closer. Such an amazing circuit.

I still remember Kimi's overtake on Webber. It was brilliant, but then all was downSuntrek wrote:And furthermore (added in recent years) - DRS has no fuction here. Great. Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Yes, but whatever happened afterwards - you remember THIS overtake because it was brilliant. And I agree, it was brilliant. As likewise Fisichella in 2006. Today we won't see anything like that because if anyone tries - and I hardly doubt anyone wold make a move of fear destroying tyres - he will suffer. There will be a queue to the finish line. Best tyre manager wins. We saw the signs aready last year in Monaco. NOONE attacked. It was a sleeping pill to the finish line. And even if overtaking in Monaco is difficult I am accustomed to see drivers at least try. Like Kimi you've pointed out and also Fisi in 2006 (they guy was on fire there) and also mention Hamilton even if he brought a gazillons penaltys on himself he did something.
Last year noone tried.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Everyone goes on about tyres blah blah blah and how F1 has been ruined.
Vettel won Turkey, Spain 2011 with 4 stops. He went to Monaco and triumphed with a 1 stop (albeit thanks to the red flag). Last year was a 1 stopper as well. I enjoyed last year's race. You don't watch Monaco expecting to see an overtaking fest.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
Yeah last year's race was tense. Sure, there were no passes in the end. But that doesn't mean it was a bad race.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2013
I remembered Button was stuck behind backmarkers last year (caterham maybe)? He did tried anyway, until he ended badly XD.
is my memory correct?

"The changes required would appear less than first envisaged,” he added.
Hembery said some changes will still be made for Canada, but only to fix the problem of delaminating tyres.
I thought he said that delaminated tyres cases were because of debris on tracks????
What a fool statement...
