In 2009 and 2010 Vettel was really good at the end of the season in the last crucial races. Lewis in 07, 08 and 10 has had bad races at this sort of time and made some mistakes. I think Alonso's biggest threat is Vettel, but like I said before Hamilton can't be completely discounted.

I am really starting to find it confusing when the "left the track and gained an advantage" idea is applied to drivers being pushed off the track on the outside. I can understand that sometimes a driver might use a tarmac runoff on the outside of a corner to maintain more momentum than he otherwise could but it seemed to me that Webber only left the track because he was not given the space he was entitled to. He was fully alongside wasn't he...

Well Marussia were on the receiving end of that the last two years when HRT had one good race and finished ahead of them as a result.

That's why Marussia were only 12th in the Constructors' championship 2010 & 2011. 2 seconds a lap faster thn HRT but they had one better result in the race. Retributive justice.

Exactly. That's the rules of the game, same for everyone. Caterham drivers shouldn't have collided at the start. Plus Caterham should just be achieving more anyway. :P

I disagree, it's only fair. With the amount of self-indulgent talking and boasting Caterham constantly produce, you'd think they've won the championship each time they qualify 18th. Weren't they supposed to be fighting for points last year already? This hard-earned smack in the face from Glock will come as a much-needed reality check for them.

You've got to make your results count. Finishing 12th once in better rewarded than finishing 13th all year, much like finishing 10th once is better than finishing 11th all year. Best incentive for those teams to aim higher and higher instead of just fighting amongst themselves IMO.

EDIT: to clarify, I disagree with tderias and mikhailv. But I agree with donald, wholeheartedly so!

I didn't know that happened to Marussia in previous years, so justice has been served in that respect... But, the system definitely needs to be re-looked at.

Marussia were competitive this weekend and Glock is a street fighter. They didn't luck into 12th, they had luck on their side - Glock did rather wallop the barrier - but they had a shrewd strategy.

Caterham has missed every target they've set. At the beginning of 2010, they said they wanted to be fighting the midfield at the end of the season. This year they targeted a point. They've got a better car than Marussia, but it's continuous false promises. Marussia should take a huge step forwards next year with KERS too.

I also think Kovalainen has had a poor season. We know that Vitaly Petrov is not the best driver, yet Kovalainen doesn't seem to be beating him convincingly. I'd love for them to take a step forwards, but like with Fernandes's venture with QPR, it seems like bold aims and time passes with static movement.

I really like Fernandes, he's such a nice bloke. Met him in 2010 and was happy to take the time and chat to everyone. Was very warm with all the fans. I want Caterham to do well.

But agree with what François and Phil have said about them. They have underachieved. They're the only one of the three new teams who have had continuity of ownership and design staff but they've not broken away.

I think he's a good entrepreneur, I mean you have to have a lot of respect for someone who has built something out of very, very little.

Just had a look at some stats - 7th retirement of the season for Schumacher. Really terrible season for him. Some of it misfortune, and he's been strong on pure pace, but in the races he has no racecraft.

Also amazed Massa finished. There's a picture of him rounding Turn 8 and the tyre is almost off. So top job Felipe!
