Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
The problem back then was that there was a grey area considering overtaking off track. Hamilton gave back the position but, overtook Raikkonen immediately going into La Source hairpin. But then Hamilton was given a penalty for a rule that was made after that move: you must wait re-overtaking for 1 corner(?), after handing the position back. But still Lewis gave back the lead, after passing Raikkonen off track, so he gave back the advantage he gained from overtaking off track.
I can still remember Olav Mol's commentary, when Hamilton overtook Kimi in La Source

Eliseo Salazar will be a driver stewart this weekend.
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
the problem is probably because hamilton is black.. Or the stewards just dislike him.. Lolz.. Good driver tends to have some illogical hindrance, and that what would make him get stronger and stronger.
Remember that if we try to block aa waterfall, the higher the pressure, the water will still burst go down. Water means talent and pure champion, it will show off event many tries to blocked it.

It wasnt just waiting a corner, it was giving the advantage back, lewis carried the advantage of speed by not slowing and forming behind kimi, kept momentum and then re-overtook using it,if he slowed and backed off, he wouldve lost time, and nailed kimi comingout of turn 1 and upto Eau Rouge.JoostLamers wrote:The problem back then was that there was a grey area considering overtaking off track. Thats why Nando got hammered because he went off track attacking Kliens Redbull and had to keep giving the place back, reovertook, then got told to give the place back again, gave it back, then got told he didnt need to give it back a 2nd time.
Avoid the naff Artic Monkeys music, but this pretty much explains it. lewis doesnt attempt the corner or back off he just cuts it to keep momentum he would lose;

Rain predicted for tomorrow.
Chilean Salazar, who will make his debut as the driver steward at Spa Francorchamps, contested races for minor F1 teams between 1981 and 1983, and also tasted action at the Indy 500, Le Mans, Daytona, Dakar and world rally.
But the now 57-year-old is probably most famous for colliding with Nelson Piquet at Hockenheim in 1982, and then getting caught up in the great Brazilian's barrage of angry punches and kicks.

The official FIA preview of this weekend's Belgian grand prix overlooked arguably the most famous moment of Eliseo Salazar's career.SpliT wrote:Eliseo Salazar will be a driver stewart this weekend.

Do we have the confirmation already that Lotus will use the "device" to this GP?
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
James Allison said if the output is good on Friday they'll use it during the race.sportingcp wrote:Do we have the confirmation already that Lotus will use the "device" to this GP?

Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
Hm I see, but if it rains tomorrow it will be more difficult for them to test it right? Let´s see, it would be a bit fail if they couldn´t use it this weekend. McLaren´s system I think is more similar to the Mercedes one.
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
Yeah let's see. I heard from someone the Mercedes system will give the team a boost of 10km/h (Mercedes is 6km/s).sportingcp wrote:Hm I see, but if it rains tomorrow it will be more difficult for them to test it right? Today's Press conference
http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/pr ... -bel1.aspxQ: (Oana Popoiu - F1Zone.net) Michael, do you remember the feeling you had on your first podium, and how was it different after that?
MS: I think it was in Mexico, if I'm right? Is it right? '92? Was it two? Yeah, '92, OK, so there you go. Is it different? Probably a little bit but no matter what, up there it's always special. It depends on the circumstances. If you are a regular podium contender and you have the package to win races then you end up being third, you have less joy up there obviously versus not expecting to be there at all and then being third. So it really depends on the circumstances. Remembering Valencia, yes, it was a beautiful feeling, for myself, for all the guys, the team for everybody, it was beautiful. It was that way in '92.
Q: (Oana Popoiu - F1Zone.net) Jenson, you never won at Spa and you've had a bit of misfortune here. Do you think that's maybe a little jinx?
JB: Not really, because that was really only one year. I think you mean 2010, with Sebastian. I love racing here. It's a great circuit to race on because to qualify here when you get everything out of the car is such a nice feeling because this place is really unforgiving, so you're always living on the seat of your pants. It's a great place to race. There are a lot of possibilities for overtaking, in wet and dry. I've had quite a few podiums here but never on the top step. Hopefully that opportunity will arise very soon.
