Michael Schumacher is throwing a celebration party for his 20th anniversary in Formula 1. He had started F1 in 1991 Belgian GP at Spa. This race will mark his 281st grand prix after his debut. I hope a good result will crown this meaningful date like Jenson did in his 200th grand prix.

Well he has improved but is still being soundly beaten by Rosberg. If anyone in a Mercedes is going to win a race it will be the latter.

If there's rain then I would consider Schumacher to be a pretty good bet for a podium- it's a track he's been brilliant at and given such as a special occasion he would surely want to have the best result possible.

Should have posted Kimi's omboard lap from 2004.

That was back when they were racing 950 hp V10s, I think he went something like 340-350 kmh on the straight and close to 370 kmh in Monza.

I always enjoyed watching Kimi at Spa, he's been brilliant there, second best Spa driver of all time behind Schumacher.

As for this year's race, I hope Lewis or Jenson can win this, please not Vettel again or the championship will be all but over....

Ferrari will struggle imo, not a good track for them this year. Ideally Lewis first, Jenson second and Alonso or Schumacher third.

Vettel DNF would be great for the championship.

Thanks Phil!

Kimi at McLaren was really special, I still think he deserved that 2005 championship and would have won it with ease, had it not been for so many technical failures.

Suzuka 2005 is perhaps the best dry weather drive in F1 history.

Kimi AND Fernando in that race, yes. Kimi gets the plaudits for the win, but Alonso was just as far back at the start and pulled an almighty move on Schumacher and could have got a lot closer had the FIA not been quicker in telling him to let Klien back through.

Here's a random thought: to my knowledge, nobody has won their home race since the 2008 season, where both Hamilton and Massa pulled it off. Even though there will be a Belgian driver on the grid at Spa, it's quite unlikely to happen next weekend; same story for Monza, since neither Trulli nor Liuzzi have a decent enough car. And don't even get me started on the Indian drivers...

Kobayashi in Japan? We'd all love that but it would require a wet race with spectacular attrition rates. As for Barrichello, with the current state of Williams and his proverbial bad luck at Interlagos, you can safely rule him out. Amazingly, the most likely driver to have a shot at winning his home race in the second half of this season is also the last one who has managed it: Felipe Massa.

In relative terms, yes. Of course, any sentence containing the words "winning", "likely" and "Massa" is quite an adventurous stretch of the imagination...

True for 2010, not so much for 2008 :O
BTW, just noticed that since Barrichello in Monza 09 all wins have been shared between the current 2011 winners (+Webber)...
I'd really like to see someone else than those five win a GP again as much as I respect them and their skills.

Can't wait for the race! The last few weeks have been so incredibly boring!
