Re: IndyCar 2013
Charlie Kimball has won the Indycar race from Mid Ohio. It's the first win for a driver with Type I Diabetes in the history of the sport.
It was possible to complete the 90 lap race in 2 stops (on laps 30 and 60) which the front row starters did, however driving slow throughout the race to save fuel was not the best strategy to be on. Other drivers who were on this strategy were slow to react. Charlie was committed to a 3 stop from the beginning and simply drove flat out for the entire race to take the win, passing Simon Pagenaud for the lead with 20 laps to go as Pagenaud emerged from the pits after his final stop on cold tyres.
A popular win for Charlie Kimball. :-D

Re: IndyCar 2013
I don't like this circuit.
Re: IndyCar 2013
All of IndyCar's street circuits utterly suck.
Re: IndyCar 2013
No. Just this one. Toronto is fantastic. And Long Beach.François wrote:All of IndyCar's street circuits utterly suck.
Re: IndyCar 2013
If this one is worse than the others, I'm not sure I'm going to sit through the entire race.
Re: IndyCar 2013
Haha, Will Power did a Grosjean.
Re: IndyCar 2013
I wonder if anyone will finish...
Re: IndyCar 2013
Pagenaud's got this in the bag if he doesn't mess up the restart. Sucks so much for Bourdais who basically had the race won before Servia tagged him, but oh well. I'll settle for ONE frenchman winning the race, whichever one.
EDIT: also, can't help but notice how poor the driving standards have been in this series lately and especially today.

Re: IndyCar 2013
The French drivers are just too good.
Re: IndyCar 2013
Not watching the race, but it sounds like the IndyCar field are making the GP2 field look competent.
Re: IndyCar 2013
Great result for Pagenaud, Newgarden, and Simona.
Re: IndyCar 2013
What an epic final restart!
Gotta feel sorry for Bourdais though, he pulled a fantastic move there, not to mention very ballsy. It was always going to be tight, but he was fortunate not to collect the wall and recover to a podium position. Would have sucked if one french driver had crashed and the other one had been penalised.
re: driving standards, that was just unbelievable. A combination of bad driving, spatial unawareness and terrible track design, plus a general feeling of impunity. Not a single penalty for avoidable contact issued today, when there's been plenty of that.
