Race highlights are up:

The Power/Dixon incident was bad, but look at the overall level of silliness. And it's also with championship contenders, not just second-rate drivers!

To be fair I think I might begin to go a bit crazy as well if I was forced to drive on that track.

Anyone notice how accidents mostly happen turning right?

Montoya back in Indycar next season! In Penske's 3rd car, no less.

Impossible to predict if he's still quick and racy as ever. He's not very old by the series' standards, but I wonder if he just failed to adapt to NASCAR or if his skills have dwindled since his former open-wheel glory. I hope he'll be in good shape and able to contend at the front.

NASCAR takes a completely different set of skills than single-seater racing.

Yes, stock cars and open-wheelers are completely different kettles of fish. I personally think that Montoya's skills have always been better suited to open-wheeled cars particularly due to the early part of his career (when he at least became a well-known talent) having been in Formula 3000. Over in the States, he won the Indy title in his first attempt and then won the Indy 500 the year later before winning in his debut year in Formula 1. His NASCAR career has also seen two victories, but never on ovals (I believe anyway) and his triumphs have aways been bookended by long lean periods.
Montoya's raw speed always seemed to triumph over any defecits in his skillset. I remember that people used to criticize him when he was in F1 due to his stocky build, but he was always quick and always quite the technically-astute driver as well.
Requiescat in pace, Jules Bianchi

Only seen a screenshot, but huge accident for Franchitti. Looks nasty, hope he's ok.

Huge accident on the last lap, Franchitti in the fence and the whole fence went into the spectator area.

Back and ankle fractures, apparently. A relatively lucky escape from a very nasty crash, with a car flying into the catch fencing at high speed.

Although this is the first big accident I've seen since Dan Wheldon's death, it seems to me that safety is still very much a concern in the IndyCar series. They spent half the weekend sorting out the track which, like many others on the calendar, is a narrow and bumpy street course devoid of any character, where they do high speeds without a safe margin for error. The catch fencing was torn apart and its debris injured several people in the grandstand, with debris from the cars (and a wheel) flying well above it. And the ugly Dallara chassis was once again powerless to stop the car from going airborne as it is supposed to.

Hopefully that'll be an eye-opener that will stop another tragedy from occuring.
