GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Bird has rarely ever impressed me. In 2010 and 2011 he showed reasonable speed and consistency I'll give him that, but then again so did Scott Speed in 2005.

I guess I'm a bit biased
Here's our season preview

Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
I should be biased but I find it hard to be. I don't know why but I've followed Bird since he first stepped into cars and I've never been remotely interested in him nor have I ever been that impressed. However I rate him MUCH higher than Max Chilton.

Thanks for the preview article. Wasn't quite familiar with the GP2 system or the timetable for the weekend. Now I have something to watch between the F1 practice sessions
PS. Dunno why, but this thread doesn't appear in the active topics list.

Coletti takes pole for the season opener, ahead of Calado and Nasr.
Cecotto drives Bird off the track in a stupid piece of driving.

Johnny Cecotto thrown to the back of the grid for pulling an outrageous move on Sam Bird.
Personally, I'd put him on the first plane back to Caracas and tell him to stay at home until Barcelona.

Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Agreed. He got off lightly. And he's not even showing any proper remorse. Disgraceful.
Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
In an ideal world we have GP2 where the likes of Frijns, Felix da Costa, Vandoorne, Calado, Evans, Abt, Magnussen, Nasr all compete to show who's best.
Sadly so long as GP2's cost spiral and PDVSA keep handing out cash then the likes of Cecotto keep getting away with it.

Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Yep. It's a topic that comes up again and again and we'll keep having this conversation as long as s*** like that is going on and the likes of Frijns have no drive.
Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Has he ever lived in Venezuela? He was raised by his German mother after his parents divorced and holds the German nationality. I guess he is only races with a Venezuelan license because of money.phil1993 wrote:Johnny Cecotto thrown to the back of the grid for pulling an outrageous move on Sam Bird.

Re: GP2, GP3, WSbR (F1 Feeder Series Thread) 2013
Can someone tell me about GP2 teams, do they have the same car? And what are the technical changes could be made? so the race is mainly about setting up the car and driver performances? (and of course strategy in tyre management)
So, the teams should be in the same boat? but why some teams seems like dominating the season, I don't know is it totally because of the set up and the drivers?
I start to watch GP2 races since my local hero is there.. Rio Haryanto. He is still very young, and have pretty much time to develop. He scored amazing pole in wet Spa which is out of many have expected. He is quite a good driver, I hope he can going up to F1, even I know that money would always be the biggest factors. He actually had pretty much money like Chilton (probably), and a back up of oil sponsorship of Indonesia (Pertamina). But I don't expect Pertamina had the same amount of money like PDVSA though...
