http://paddocktalk.com/news/html/story-157066.html2011 Martinsville Q&A: NASCAR Sprint Cup - Kyle Busch
What is your reaction to the reports of Kimi Raikkonen racing in the Truck Series?
"I think it's cool. I think that some of these guys from the Formula 1, or from the open wheel background I should say, trying to take a step in NASCAR and see how it is pretty neat. It kind of gives a world presence to NASCAR. Everybody thinks that Formula 1 is the World Series -- I don't mean that in baseball terms I just mean that in the racing world globe. I think that NASCAR as big as it is a lot of drivers want to see how they can do over here and how they can have a feel for the race car over here. I think it's neat and I hope that he (Kimi Raikkonen) gets the things worked out that he wants worked out and that he can come over here and run some Trucks or run whatever he is going to run."
Do you think it's a good idea for Kimi Raikkonen to make his debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway?
"I reckon most teams are from around Charlotte so it's probably easier for him to get there. Probably a cheaper route for them to start out in having him (Kimi Raikkonen) as a first race. I think most of it has probably got to do with his schedule and what he can do around his Rally stuff. I don't know how busy those guys are, I don't pay attention to the Rally schedule all that much but maybe that's his only opportunity. I don't know."
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/20 ... 0778_x.htmMontoya has heard rumors Raikkonen to try NASCAR
MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Juan Pablo Montoya said Friday he's heard the rumors that former Formula One teammate Kimi Raikkonen is headed to NASCAR.
Raikkonen is reportedly planning to enter a Truck Series race at Charlotte next month. If he does try NASCAR, he'd follow Montoya, Scott Speed and Nelson Piquet Jr. as the most recent former F1 drivers to move to America's most popular motorsports series.
"The only thing that I heard is that he was being approved for Charlotte. I don't know if he's even confirmed he's doing it," Montoya said. "I think it would be cool if he comes here. He's a cool guy and I think he would fit right in."
But Montoya questioned the selection of Charlotte for a debut race.
"My first choice wouldn't be Charlotte, to start my first race," said Montoya, who drove his first stock car in an ARCA race at Talladega.
Speed also made his debut in an ARCA race at Talladega, while Piquet raced the ARCA event at Daytona. Both tracks are superspeedways, where handling is less important than at Charlotte.
Raikkonen and Montoya were teammates at McLaren. An F1 world champion, Raikkonen now competes in World Rally Championship. The Trucks race at Charlotte on May 20 falls between the rally races at Sardinia and Argentina.
Montoya said he was not surprised to learn the Finn was considering NASCAR because it's more popular outside the U.S. than many realize.
"I think maybe if you would get the numbers of how many people internationally are watching these races ... in Europe and Asia, I think you would shock yourself," Montoya said. "People in Formula One are very selfish. They think there is nothing better out there. But the actual racing, this is exciting.
"It's exciting to watch, it's exciting to be here."

Or maybe they have thought it is better to focus on the "good guy" and not mention the "bad guy"?Kriss wrote:maybe this is a good signsleenster wrote:Is the Gillett guy in the picture? I doubt Kyle Busch would ever want to associate himself with Foster Gillett thoughMar wrote:Or maybe they have thought it is better to focus on the "good guy" and not mention the "bad guy"?Kriss wrote:maybe this is a good signsleenster wrote:Is the Gillett guy in the picture? Re: The Kimi Nascar Monster Cool Lounge
But, if what's written in Autosport is true, Kimi will only rent the car, sorry the truck , for the test. Maybe, they have agreed he can try the truck if nobody names Gillett (just pure speculation, 0.5% chances of being true)sleenster wrote:I doubt Kyle Busch would ever want to associate himself with Foster Gillett thoughMar wrote:Or maybe they have thought it is better to focus on the "good guy" and not mention the "bad guy"?Kriss wrote:maybe this is a good signsleenster wrote:Is the Gillett guy in the picture? BTW, I would think it twice before renting one of my trucks to an European guy that has not put his hands in one of those ever before, formula 1 champion or not

More on the Kyle Busch/Kimi testing issue:
"I don't want to say who's the driver" looks a lot like "Kimi"
http://www.auto123.com/en/racing-news/n ... ign=racingAutosport.com reported that the test will take place at the half-mile track in Georgia, but when Auto123.com contacted a KBM team spokesman the reply by email was “a team official did confirm to Autosport that a test is scheduled on Monday and Kyle is not the driver testing. But did not and will not say who the driver is…”

Return to Main OFFICIAL: Kimi Raikkonen signs with Red Bull Racing for 2012 by PitRoadBox
Aug 26, 2010 at 03:57 PM | COMMENTS (0) | LIKES (0)After all public rumors, Kimi Raikkonen has finally made his point by coming to NASCAR. He is signed with Red Bull Racing to replace Kasey Kahne for 2012.
Raikkonen, who is currently competing in the WRC, said he wanted to do this because "NASCAR is totally interesting in my opinion because I remember Juan Pablo Montoya's move to NASCAR and I have been following him a lot."
Kasey Kahne expressed his opinion on Raikkonen coming to NASCAR: "Obviously, Kimi is from Finland and since the Finns don't know much about NASCAR, he will introduce NASCAR to the entire country of Finland. He is an amazing World Champion who can do anything he wants to win and become good at."
Brian Vickers and Scott Speed have different opinions, however. "I am very comfortable about Kimi Raikkonen coming to NASCAR because he is such a great advisor to any driver out there", said Vickers. Scott Speed said, "I can't wait for Kimi to come over because he is such a great World Champion and a perfect teammate."
After all, Kimi said that in 2009 when he was going to leave F1, he said that he could race in NASCAR if he wanted to. But this is about to change in 2012.
