Live from the Dead Sea – Servicepark

Image

This is our spot in the servicepark. Not much there at the moment. Boat is still out in the open sea, expected in to Haifa at 20.00 tonight. Then they have to wait for customs to open Wednesday morning. Expected ETA Dead Sea servicepark is now Wednesday evening. When the vessel actually gets into to Haifa, the new schedule will be decided.

The boat carrying equipment and cars is now due to dock by midnight in Haïfa. The trucks should be at Dead Sea Resort tomorrow afternoon.... The overall schedule will be delayed…

thats definitely sure...

Kimi not beeig in Jordan press conference maybe has to do with FIA not wanting the official pressconf to be about Kimi and nascar? Hard to belive the jurnos would ask anything about his rallyendevor when they can aske about nascarsuprice :zz: (and with the fact that there are very few jurnos in jordanrally)... better to have him there in Finland etc. ?

sounds very much that they are not going to rally anything at thursday atleast... but seems that they are going to take the decision earliest when they have the stuff through the custom?

Maybe WRC just doesn't want to give away any more free publicity to NASCAR :zz:

yeah :( and I fear even midnight isn't sure.. didn't they say yesterday it should be in Haifa in the morning..? and about 5 hours ago Citroen wrote that the ship should dock at 4pm. so more delay is possible :fear:

Teams to meet to decide on Jordan

By David Evans
Tuesday, April 12th 2011, 16:24 GMT

The World Rally Championship teams will meet at 22:00 local time in Jordan tonight to decide the fate of the opening day of this week's fourth round of the WRC.

The boat transporting the kit from Italy to Israel failed to arrive at 14:00 today and is now expected at 22:00.

Israeli customs will be closed at that time, meaning the earliest the kit is going to arrive in the Dead Sea service park is mid-afternoon tomorrow, less than 24 hours before the first competing cars are scheduled to arrive expecting to be serviced after the first loop of competition.

Whether or not to cancel the opening day of the rally is at the top of the agenda for tonight's meeting, which has been put back from two o'clock this afternoon, with AUTOSPORT sources fearing there is little alternative.

"We still can't honestly say when the boat's going to arrive," said the source. "It was Sunday, then Monday, then 14:00 today then 10 tonight. Who really knows? And, once the boat's here, it's another step into the unknown about how long it's going to take to clear customs.

"The sensible plan would seem to be to kick Thursday into touch and get everything sorted for Friday-Saturday. Let's see."

There are mounting concerns that the event might be cancelled in its entirety, with the teams unlikely to have the time to build the service park infrastructure which had been planned for the event.

The source added: "The organisers of the event are on top of this and they're planning different scenarios all of the time. It would be a shame to get everything out here only to send it all home again."

Oh, I was so happy about this weekend, making so many plans to get it all into my schedule: WRC, IRC, F1, the loads of work I have to do... Image

I hope, we get at least a bit WRC
