Loeb: Kimi's lack of success a good thing

Seven-time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb admits to being relieved that Kimi Raikkonen has not done too well in the World Rally Championship series.

- It has been a good thing from the point of view of the level of the World Rally Championships series. This shows that it is not easy for the former F1 champion to win in rally, said Loeb, who is preparing for the World Rally Championship round in Mexico, in an interview with the local magazine Excélsior.

To date, Räikkönen's career-best rally result is fifth place in last season's Rally of Turkey. However, Loeb does not overlook the Formula One champion's skills.

- Kimi is a good driver and can show flashes at any time, Loeb said.

Raikkonen will skip Mexico's leg, which starts tonight Finnish time.

I just hope MTV3 hasn't done any of their usual "creative interpretation" of Loeb's words :p

In fact the original stuff is a little bit different ...

http://www.excelsior.com.mx/index.php?m ... ota=719095 link in Spanish

"The Frenchman admitted that the arrival of the drivers of the level of Kimi Raikkonen made it clear that it is not easy driving a rally car.

"It's great for the level of the WRC, demonstrates that it is not easy for a former Formula 1 world champion to win a rally, Kimi is a good driver and any time he can achieve something."

I'm sorry for the poor translation

Oh, it is indeed a bit different, but MTV3's headline was implying that Loeb was happy that Kimi didn't succeed or something. Thanks for the link and translation!

According to Nitro (the TV channel that has the WRC rights in Spain), Mr Räikkönen is soooo good that he got 3 points in Mexico even if he was not driving there  :

Raikkonen and Kobayashi cool, Vettel not says Sauber sponsor Mad Croc

Mar.17 (GMM) Kimi Raikkonen and Kamui Kobayashi are cool, but F1's new world champion Sebastian Vettel is not.

That is the view of Ari Koivula, the boss of the Sauber sponsor Mad Croc.

Mad Croc is an energy drink, so it is no surprise that Koivula is critical of Vettel, the most prominent representative of market leader Red Bull.

Nonetheless, Koivula told Turun Sanomat in Finland: "I can say that Kimi Raikkonen's image today is still really cool among young people, while the much younger Sebastian Vettel's is not.

"Dynamic, contemporary young people don't have Vettel's hair style and body language, which gives the impression of a mama's boy.

"What he lacks is a certain aggressiveness," he added.

Of F1's current drivers, Koivula said the "most cool" is Fernando Alonso, but he is also very happy with Sauber's Japanese youngster Kobayashi.

Vettel, however, is undoubtedly Bernie Ecclestone's favourite driver, describing him as a "godsend for formula one" in a new interview with Sport Bild.

What a stupid thing to say for Koivula! That is plain right slandering. Hair style means mama's boy because someone works for a competitor?
Curious case of Kimi Raikkonen..
