Why not good? This makes people equeal because here is so much public services in the net. This will cause only small part of Finns and this is not so big expences for network operators. We have needed technology here.

I am seen that you have hard values - money talks.

If you were Scottish you would have got my quote. I've got no problem with you being Jamaican, so why do you want to be Scottish?

I believe firmly in supply and demand. Anywhere that those in power can impose a "requirement" or "right" or law is one more place for humans to exibit their all too common traits of corruption and greed. Just ask our Russian friend...

This will work in real world as good as communism. Humans are not enough smart (but enough greedy) for these ideologies.

iam with you, everybody should have the internet, its just like the modern day mail. when mail service began in this country some people were opposed to it because it had to be delivered to the most remote places and they said it would cost to much money. it would be unfair for people who lived in unpopulated places not to get mail, its the same thing with the internet. now most everything is done on the net, so to deny people is just wrong.

With all due respect that is the difference between the east coast and here. I "deserve" nothing unless I work for it and He wills it.

Also, the US Postal Service was and is funded by federal tax dollars. The "grid" is funded by private entities. IF the Feds drop paper mail and move that funding to the "Internet grid" instead, AND compensate the private entities for their work, AND reimburse them for future losses for five years, THEN I might be ok with it.

red you dont think the private entities get tax breaks? the gov. will give them breaks to expand the network.

private entities that have a guaruanteed cover for losses for five years? this is no-brainer than - they will have no profit at all (it is not so difficult to do), only losses and Fed ends up paying for both internet grid and losses of those priveteers taking over mail. Sorry it's no win situation for a taxpayer (you see the way we, Russians, think :O ) and I bet that salaries in those companies (top management) will be like in biggest banks

and that one didn't work at all  I know, I was there. all we got:
''All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" from Animal Farm.
I can discuss on this subject a lot. :)

Red iam not fighting with you, i am over taxed to the max. just to give you a example , we paid 12,000.00 in property taxes on a Levittown cape, we are the middle class, our neighborhood is made up of firefighters and police, no bankers here. we work for every thing we have, its just that companies should make the net available to all places. i would hate to see a school not have the net available to them.

No we are on the same page, you misunderstood. I'm saying the government will take over the private comapnies grid that they built. If so the government should have to BUY the grid. I also think they should pay the companies the lost revenue that they would have made if they were still ISPs. I just picked five years because they will not find a new business plan overnight.

I like this! A Russian with a capitalist mind!

Supply and demand is just as open to corruption as any other system. But there is one difference. We the PUBLIC have a CHOICE to use the company and their services. B****ing and moaning, protesting in front of the company does NOTHING other than gets you on my TV set so I can laugh at you. All business reacts to one thing, MONEY! Stop crying about BOA, AIG, BP, the rest of the list, and STOP buying their services and products!!!

Our Russian can explain how "easy" this would be in a communist country. Hint: 7.62mm to the base of your skull.

With the Powers controlling things you are at their mercy. With the People in charge you can change things, as long as they are not lazy, fat f***s that lay on the couch and eat chips all day! That's the USA's problem. Too much lazy and not enough accountability...

I love you guys but my blood pressure is gonna kill me if this keeps up!
