I don't know what to think since Heikki Kulta doesn't spread empty rumours :fear:

This proves the contrary.

I don't know what to thinks about it either ''hmm''
It's logical that Webber wants a quick solution since he is on fire at the moment, but the strange part is that RB is not in a hurry. Maybe they want to wait for a few more races to see how consistant he is.
He was very good in Monaco but winning it from pole position in a very good car is not a miracle.

I think that they will re-sign Mark as quick as possible!

Maybe yes... maybe no...

they need to consider other thing not only the result of the last 2 races...

Who knows - i reckon until we hear from Red Bull re the contract extension or from Kimi on his future anything can happen.

I would be surprised if Red Bull were to rush to sign him after two good races, and essentially when his stock is at the highest allowing him to dictate terms rather than the other way around. I think they'll wait a bit.... they would be foolish not to.

On another note - this is the perfect example of how fickle F1 is - a few weeks ago Webber was definitely going to be retired from Red Bull, now he apparently has not only Red Bull but Ferrari after his signature - how things change :O

Not at all. Kulta doesn't deny they want to keep Webbo. He just says they don't want to hurry.
Driver wants more money, team tries to minimize that. If Webber urges, but the team drag their feet means that both party expect Vettel to bounce back, or Kimi get interested in taking his seat, so Webber's negotiation power weaken later in the season. If we'll hear he signed the deal now, that most likely meant he settled for less money to secure his seat.

Things didn't change. Common perception of things did.
Webber himself never said he wants to retire now or won't go elsewhere. Ferrari uses their alleged interest in him to dictate terms to Massa, and he uses it to negotiate his own contract.

This is valid for the media and fans on forums. Believe me that the teams know very well the situation. For example, Webber is known quantity for RedBull, he's been driving for them for 3years already.

So, what you said about how fickle F1 is, goes only for the media and fans. The teams with so many specialists and investing so much money, know exactly each driver's abbilities.

I've just realized that maybe we should move the discussion in the "speculation ..." thread.

That's kinda what I meant rko281 - I was poking fun at the media's reaction to certain situations - and meant that, we shouldn't be convinced that Red Bull have suddenly made a decision on Webber's future based on the last two races.

But it is of course the media who is driving this issue - stating that it was Webber's Monaco performance that cemented his future with the team - which of course is silly, becuase as you say, the teams know full well the capabilities of their drivers - however a bit of good PR never hurt anyone's chances of securing a contract though.

@Kriss - thanks for the Monaco pics!

Hi Nikki! Looks like I'm not the only one who hasn't been here in the past few days...

How about this article?

http://www.planet-f1.com/news/18227/615 ... gn-Webber-

I think that they are waiting if mark can maintain his form throughout the season. Also, as we all know, these negotiations can take a long time and I am sure both sides want to get the most out of the contract so many things can still happen.

It's sad if it's true that Mark's team is not sharing info with Vettel's. I really thought that this was one team where everybody was treated fairly? Is there a chance that Mark is getting insecure about his teammate? Hhmmm...

I totally agree with you
Red Bull knows that 2 good races aren't enough and Webbo needs to keep his form. As for Kimi returning to F1, personally didn't have too much hope so i won't be crushed if he doesn't come back.
