IF the Feds drop paper mail and move that funding to the "Internet grid" instead, AND compensate the private entities for their work, AND reimburse them for future losses for five years, THEN I might be ok with it.
private entities that have a guaruanteed cover for losses for five years? this is no-brainer than - they will have no profit at all (it is not so difficult to do), only losses and Fed ends up paying for both internet grid and losses of those priveteers taking over mail. Sorry it's no win situation for a taxpayer (you see the way we, Russians, think :O ) and I bet that salaries in those companies (top management) will be like in biggest banks
No we are on the same page, you misunderstood. I'm saying the government will take over the private comapnies grid that they built. If so the government should have to BUY the grid. I also think they should pay the companies the lost revenue that they would have made if they were still ISPs. I just picked five years because they will not find a new business plan overnight.

I like this! A Russian with a capitalist mind!
I got it now. Thanks for clearing it. I did misunderstand you.

Well, I have to be honest so far I've seen:
In Russia: so-called communism in 80s, wild capitalism in 90s, something that I would call priviledged capitalism in 00s
and then in UK - modern economy of Western type, when it is better to work in banks and to be at some level 'public servant' but not to work in a production (real economy) sector.

Neither system work. It is just a balance we a looking for and some can do it better, some - worse.
Governemnts tend to forget that public is employer and theyt (G) are employees. OR - they are our contractors and we want 'quality for our money'. It was like this, it will be like this. From many countries around the globe I've seen so far (literally - have to travel time to time) the best balance between capitalism and socialism (not communism - this thing is different) is in Scandinavia. But it is a personal choice always and it's just my opinion of course. As you said ones - sorry for being off the sopabox (did I put it right?)

:O thanks for counting me as one with capitalist mind. I like it too

Red, in my eyes this what you are told is like religion. Believe or not, I know and understand both systems very well. I hate greedy people. In both systems, in USSR and in US only the top people wins a lot and there is hug mount of people who has almost nothing. This is not fair.

you know its hard not to be mad at those companies, like i said you work hard all your life , do the right thing and get screwed anyway. when you think you saved your whole life and most of it is gone because of corruption it makes you sick. we are a lot closer to retirement age then you, and its a lot more scary now then its ever been.

I love you guys but my blood pressure is gonna kill me if this keeps up!

there was almost never need for that  good joke!!!

Hint: no privat companies - all (well 995) owned by the state and they decided what to produce. If you go to the shop and there is only one kind of cheese, you buy one kind of cheese only. :)

BUT - state took a lot of responsibilities too. Example: those guy did provide almost everyone with electricity and health care before WWII. not saying the communists were good, no. But they gave things to the nation that didn't have them before. The other things was the price (not in terms of money). But this is another story... If you want you can ask about the way different things were in Soviet Union, I'll try to answer.

About the second line, i guess you could also read it that you are that bad thing that happen to good people. :S Probably I am reading it wrong  and you mean that you are one of those good people, right?
Oh my, oh my....

Valuk, Raging and Storming - you all fail to notice that I contradict myself in almost every post in this section :zz:
