Thank you for translating
Welcome square

Heikki Kulta knows something... but he can be trusted. I can imagine Kimi's anger since they have been downtalking him in Renault which is way out of order :<>:

So this confirms that there weren't any McLaren-negotiations last year

Räikkönen puts a stop to Renault's milking

Turun Sanomat 6.10 2010 00:09:17

Kimi Räikkönen who is known for his silence got finally fed up when Renault continues week after week speculating through the media about the Finnish star's possible switch back to F1 in their team.

– I am very disappointed in the way they have used my name in order to promote their own marketing. I have not at any stage considered seriously driving for Renault and I can assure you that I'm 100% sure that I will not drive in Renault next year, Räikkönen declares in his straightforward way.

– My managers were weeks ago once in contact with Renault's team manager. That's all, Räikkönen said.

Even though they haven't had any negotiations, Renault's camp has constantly been feeding the F1-media with stories about how Räikkönen is interested in their team. According to team manager Eric Bouillier the only thing slowing down the negotiations has been the uncertainity of the Finnish driver's motivation.

Although the big audience doesn't necessarily notice it, it isn't any campaign for open negotiations, it's clearly a team- and finance-policy.

Renault is a racing team lead by tycoon Gerard Lopez. For Lopez F1 is business and therefore it looks like they are riding on WDC Räikkönen's name for as long as possible until filling the other seat.

Räikkönen and his managers are used to not speaking in public about any negotiations before the contracts are sealed. Therefore the policy Renault has taken to chow down one short contact for several weeks has been both disturbing and shocking to them.

Thanks Nicole!
Well that puts a quick end to all my speculations in my review that I just posted. Guess I was a bit too early
Strange that he let his manager contact Renault if he never really was interested? I still think he would do better in F1. Well of course he would. But perhaps he is sticking to the long road ahead in rallying after all. Kudos to the Kimster if that is the case. :)
The unanswered question is still why he hasnt signed with Ciroen when they in clear words are just waiting for his name on the dotted line. I just cant see any other teams in F1 in the mix. But you never know I guess.

It was getting annoying, wasn't it Boudica? 'If Kimi is motivated enough':

@ Sören, I'm thinking - surprise surprise  - Red Bull in F1 :p

Maybe it's because of the rumours that Red Bull might withdraw from WRC? Though it doesn't sound logical to me since the Citroen guys said that they would like him to continue with them and that it's up to him...
The only possibility in F1 I see would be RBR, but that would mean they'd have to end one signed contract and I don't feel that's very fair... (I know, it happend before and it will always happen but I'm kind of old-fashioned and believe that no one should break a 'promise' :O )

All this speculations and rumours are so confusing but I have to admit they keep me quite entertained...

That's the most paradoxal thing on the forums, people complaining over how boring Kimi is but still they can't seem to stop bringing him up all the time

Imagine the meltdown on forums if Kimi went back to F1

It was starting to become very disrespectful. So what does Heikki's last sentence mean?

I think Citroen are happy to have Kimi driving for them IF he has Red Bull sponsorship (or some other sponsorship). However, the Red Bull sponsorship might be up in the air at this point so maybe that's why Kimi hasn't signed yet?

I've always believed Kimi had an option contract with RBR - F1, at their election. That would make sense of their willingness to sponsor his Rally drive. It also would explain all the waiting. Since Citroen is in no hurry, RBR and Kimi don't have to be and they can wait and ensure that the current RBR F1 plan for 2011 remains the status quo. If it does, or it can be resolved without Kimi, then I'd imagine RBR and Kimi would work out a Rally deal. That is how I see it.

Thank You Nicole.

I am elated that the bubble of Eric has busted. Now its time for Boullier to find another marketing strategy that can make them the world beaters.

I think it has been a rude shock for kimi & robertsons bcos they only made one call to renault on behalf of kimi (since it is his mgt's job to always be on the lookout for potential jobs). I was also reading opinions from elsewhere and many also seem to imply that renault are milking kimi's name dry ... I'm glad kimi finally made some sort of public statement to stop all this nonsense. it was becoming really annoying... Now I'm wondering if kubica is thinking to go elsewhere as soon as he can in case he gets used like kimi has been used.

Wolfie, I bet u kimi will stay in rally... since he says his heart is there etc... what r we gonna bet on? :n
