It is rally Acropolis as we call it, it is not far from Athens ...the city will be calm since because of a holiday on Monday all will be in the islands... So rally lovers will be able to go around a busy city in peace....

Rally is only popular here among a special group of people..it is not so massive...and women have not discovered Kimi yet...
And the TV people were not so fond of him, not bashing but indifferent for this cold emotionless Finn....They tend to be more close to Alonso type guys, the mediteranean type...So perhaps Kimi will be left in peace if he comes here .....I don't like it when he is bothered...

New calendar hailed a breakthrough for the WRC

North One Sport, Promoter of the FIA World Rally Championship, says the recently announced 2011 WRC calendar reinforces a new era of co-operation, stability and growth in the sport.

Simon Long, CEO, spoke of his optimism after the FIA World Motor Sport Council confirmed a 13-round calendar for the 2011 WRC season. A 14th event could also feature in the series, subject to ratification by the World Motor Sport Council by 23 June.

The 2011 calendar is the first to have been proposed by the Championship Promoter. Long commented: "Next year's calendar was always going to be a crucial step in our long term plans for the World Rally Championship and thanks to a terrific spirit of cooperation between all the parties involved I'm delighted with what has been achieved.

"We have worked hard in conjunction with the FIA to create a calendar that works not only in commercial terms for car manufacturers, teams and rally organisers but - crucially - one which delivers a platform for a diverse and competitive championship. What we've ended up with - nine months before the end of the year - delivers everything we wanted, as well as time to plan and a strong sense of stability," he added.

The 2011 calendar features a mix of the old and the new. A number of classic rallies will be returning to the series such as Italy, Argentina and Greece, joining more recent additions like the rounds in Mexico, Jordan and Portugal. In total, nine of the rallies will be held on gravel, with three on asphalt and one on snow and ice.

"The calendar provides an exciting blend of heritage events and new challenges, and an unrivalled geographical spread that takes in five continents," said Long.

Unlike the current season, which has a month-long break in June, next year's calendar features a more consistent schedule of rallies, with at least one every month from February through to November.

"Compared to this year, the 2011 calendar makes a lot more sense logistically and commercially, while regular rallies will help the series build momentum and give fans a better idea of when the next event is coming up," said Long.

"Thanks to this calendar, and the introduction of the new specification World Rally cars, 2011 is shaping up to be a thrilling season and I'm confident it will underline the WRC's position as one of the world's premier motor sports."

RAIKKONEN CONTINUES TO GROW IN CONFIDENCE
Kimi Raikkonen has said his second points finish in the World Rally Championship in Turkey last month has provided a major boost in his efforts to establish himself as a WRC frontrunner.

Stilo-supported Raikkonen finished fifth on Rally of Turkey last month on only his eighth competitive outing in a rally car and his fourth on gravel.

"It's a sign that we're going in the right direction," said the 30-year-old former Formula One world champion. "In Jordan the speed was not so good but we finished the rally; in Turkey it was bit better and we finished fifth. In fact, we did not do anything that was very different: it was just a question of having more time in the car and working with the pacenotes. In some places I felt confident, in others less confident. But for sure, a result like this helps."

The next WRC event on Raikkonen's schedule is Rally de Portugal at the end of May.

Q&A - Olivier Quesnel
I’m also very happy with Kimi Raikkonen's progress. He’s slotted into the team very well and he’s had two good races in Jordan and Turkey. That’ll help give him confidence for the second part of the season.”

Lampinen waits for Kimi's pace to improve

Turun Sanomat 5.5 2010 22:26:21

Rally legend Simo Lampinen lives nowadays in Germany but on Tuesday he was walking in Turku TS car & communication museum and talked a lot as he usually does. Lampinen who works for FIA is still following closely the WRC-serie.

– Kimi Räikkönen coming into rally has been an interesting and positive thing. I would have thought myself that Kimi would drive better than we have already seen.

– I talked with Kimi in Rally Turkey and it seems like he is finding the notes little by little. It's clear that he enjoys the relaxed rally world more than the paddock-life in F1 where everything is planned millimeter by millimeter and minute by minute.

According to Lampinen Räikkönen should get in the speed of the top drivers in the near future. That's when it can be probable that Räikkönen will rise to fight for the WRC-championship one day.

– It can't take much more than over one year if you are championship-material. The top speed has to be found during next season.

Lampinen is one of the few Finnish rally drivers who have created an international job career in the managment of car races after his own driving career was over. Lampinen has worked hard in many places but right now he is mostly seen as WRC-serie's safety group's member.

– The safety group goes and checks that the route and the other arrangements are in order. After that they leave the organisers two-three months to rectify possible lacks.

– I don't go to all races, I take some three or four races per year. Last year I was in Rally Turkey.

THanks :shhh: Not like I thought they would look like :)

Hmmz why do they think that Kimi should have the same pace as the current leaders already next year? I mean they are driving since a few years! One can´t expect Kimi to be on their level after just one season! Well that are my thoughts! :O
Kimi Kimi gimme just a little smile :)
