Argentinean Federico Villagra hopes a switch of co-drivers on this week's Rally of Turkey won't harm his chances of achieving a third consecutive points finish.
The Munchi's Ford team driver and his co-driver Jorge Pérez Companc took their Ford Focus RS WRC to seventh place in the Jordan Rally - repeating the result they scored on the opening round of their 2010 campaign in Mexico.
Due to business commitments, Companc cannot attend Rally of Turkey so Villagra has turned to experienced co-driver and fellow Argentinean, Jose Dias to stand in. Dias deputised for Companc twice during the 2009 season, most recently in Greece, where the pair finished fourth.
"It will be a bit strange without having Jorge as my co-driver but I’ve driven with Jose before so I don’t envisage any problems," said Villagra. "I’ve heard that the weather out in Turkey hasn’t been great so this might make some of the stages quite difficult, but I’m confident that we will be able to deal with any problems along the way.
"I got a great deal of confidence from my performance in Jordan last week and I’m looking forward to Turkey to try and gain more points for the team," he added.

The first stage of day two of Rally of Turkey on Saturday (April 16) could prove decisive to the outcome of the gravel event, round four of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Measuring a total of 18.17 kilometres, the Gocbeyli stage includes approximately 13 kilometres of asphalt roads, after which crews then have to cover a further 54.74 kilometres on gravel before they can return to the service park in Pendik to complete a full tyre change.
Championship regulations stipulate that competitors must run the Pirelli hard-compound gravel tyre, with an allowance to carry two spares for each loop of stages. Although the Pirelli Scorpion gravel tyre maintains a strong level of performance on asphalt, it has been designed to withstand rough gravel surfaces.
If drivers go on full attack on the Tarmac sections, they risk wearing down the tyre tread for the subsequent gravel tests, when grip will be crucial, particularly given the muddy nature of the stages due to recent heavy rain.
George Black, the Ford team’s tyre technician, says drivers must adopt a degree of caution on the opening stage, which is repeated on Saturday afternoon. “The drivers can’t afford to destroy the tyres so early in the loop so we’ll be warning them about this,” said Black. “They need to brake early to avoid locking the wheels and risk flat-spotting the tyres, which can take the tread down very quickly. In the long corners they need to be as straight as they can and not lean too much on the tyre.”
Sebastien Loeb, the current championship leader after back-to-back wins in Mexico and Jordan, is bracing himself for the challenge ahead: “Obviously we'll have gravel tyres for everything, but we didn't have too many problems with this combination of gravel and Tarmac in Cyprus last year. We'll just have to find the right rhythm when passing from one surface to another."
