2008-2009 GP2 Asia Series

Post by TwistedArmco » 25 Sep 2008, 22:16

This is the thread for the 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series.
As with the previous Asia series, teams must have at least one Asian driver in their line-up to be eligable for prize money. To clear any confusion, all of Turkey, the Antipodes and Russia count as Asia. All current main-series GP2 teams bar Racing Engineering will participate. In their place will be Hong-Kong based QI-Meritus.

Season Calendar:

R1: Shanghai International Circuit, China. October 18-19
R2: Dubai Autodrome, UAE. December 5-6
R3: Sakhir Circuit, Bahrain. January 23-24
R4: Dubai Autodrome, UAE. February 27-28
R5: Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. April 4-5
R6: Sakhir Circuit, Bahrain. April 19-20

Each round consists of two races, with the same points as the GP2 Main Series allocated.

So far, this is what the entry list looks like. Confirmed drivers are in black. Speculated/probable drivers are in italic blue:

Sakon Yamamoto
Nelson Phillipe
Arden International
Luiz Razia
Mika Maeki (Round 1)
Renger van der Zande (Round 2>)
Barwa Campos Grand Prix
Vitaly Petrov
Sergio Perez
Kamui Koboyashi
Jerome D'Ambrosio
GFH Team iSport
Geido van der Garde
Hamad Al Fardan
Javier Villa
James Jakes
FMS International
Andi Zuber
Kevin Nai Chia Chen
Davide Valsecchi
Carlos Iaconelli
QI-Meritus Mahara
Alex Yoong
Earl Bamber
Piquet Sports
Roldan Rodriguez
Diego Nunes
Michael Herck
Yuki Sekiguchi
BCN Competition
Luca Filippi
Hiro Yoshimoto
Trident Racing
Chris van der Drift
Giacomo Ricci

So, any driver speculation, or just general comment over what should be a superb series (I am so looking forward to this one :D ) goes here.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.
