Well it says it all about the level of competition in the series, that Bourdais was able to win on his debut.....
Pizzonia on Pole The guy who failed to score a single point in a Jaguar which Mark Webber put on the front row several times, in favour of Justin Wilson.
The same with the old Champcar series which is now dead and which Bourdais dominated in that fast food sponsored car.
To compare those drivers to current F1 drivers is like comparing a poodle to a tiger
The same with Indycar, nice to watch and nice racing at times, but the level of competition Ryan Briscoe and Scott Dixon dominating the series, both failed to establish even as test drivers in F1! Briscoe was dropped after one year as Toyota´s test driver and Dixon only had two test sessions with Williams, before they sent him back to america.
A driver like Räikkönen or Hamilton would lap the field on road courses without safety car periods. Even Alguesuari or Sutil would dominate in those series (Indycar, Superleague etc)
