yeah, 2008 saw him grow from an erratic 'some sunday performances' driver to fully matured and able driver who can perform week in week out, except for Silverstone.

I think he will continue that performance in 2009, so I believe him to be a contender. But if he continues to mature in the same pace, who knows what could happen.

I think next year, it will be surely a fight between Massa and Hamilton again. This season no one expected that. Everybody said, it will be between Kimi and Hamilton, but Räikkönen didn't do a good job. I hope he can get into the action again next year, so it will be a Räikkönen-Massa-Hamilton-(Alonso) fight...

I think Kimmi will put the hammer down in 2009 and fight for the championship so it will be 3 person and Heikkie should also fight and make the team condition as it was in 2007 :D

Heikki will always be the rear gunner for hamilton. Look at interlagos. His only thing he did was to slow glock down after their second pit stop.

I hope that the new qualifying format goes through and so Heikki would have a much better chance in qualifying without always being impeded by unnecessary large fuel loads. Of course McLaren could still try to do something to his car but that would be sheer stupidity already. If they don't want the other car to win, then they shouldn't bring it to the race at all.

In Brazil Heikki would be the rear gunner anyway as he couldnt win the championship.
For example, early in the season Heikki was given the chance wherever he was strong.

Next season will be totally different from this one.Think back to 2005 when massive regulation changes made a big change to the pecking order.I expect a similar thing in 2009,and the testing times will be more important than usual this winter

Yeah, the field will get even closer, than last season. I expect first wins for Red Bull and Toyota, and usual podiums for the top 5 or 6 teams....

Its OK if you think so but I honestly didn't think so. Certainly not in this season.

Having about three laps more fuel than your teammate almost every race doesn't equal "giving a chance" to me either. :O The only time Kovalainen was lighter was in Silverstone where he got the pole by a good margin. And to get that fuel strategy his management had to spend two days trying to convince McLaren. That pretty much tells about the situation in the team at the moment.

After Schumacher era one would never have thought that Ferrari is probably one of the best when it comes to driver equality.

But in a way Heikki isnt a that good driver either. He should have been able to utilize himself on having more fuel at the start and gaining track position during pit stops. A good example would be Alonso in British GP 2007.
