Well watch out for Hamilton, because he's "fantastic in wet conditions!"

Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
T1 is very scary here so theres a good risk of getting wiped out on 1st lap. apart from that theres the FIA handing out penalties factor. ive a feeling he will get something or other tomorrow.
we'll see. biggest thing is weather. part of me says its gonna be a boring race with kimi and lewis out at T1 and Massa and kova out at the front aad part of me thinks its gonna be an epic race like Suzuka 05. we'll just wait and see i suppose. in any case Massa will probably walk away with a 4-8 point lead tomorrow. which means the pressure is on McLaren to deliver and Massa to conserve. Hamiltons failed at conserving so far. maybe it does him more good than harm to be the hunter rather than the hunted.

well scermat, I have alot of hope that Kimi will manage though the first corner, and Hamilton too. I hope they'll have another epic battle while overtaking other drivers, that'd be my wish. And then ofcourse that Kimi wins. But I don't think he's gonna win if its going to be dry all the way. But anyhow it's going to be an exciting race.
And huge yay for Vettel! I cheered when he secured his pole, it's well deserved! I hope he can pull off some magic tomorrow too. He has a Ferrari engine in the end, so he could last alot of laps as first.

Yes hamilton wasn't very good today but saying he was useless is absurd. One poor qualifying does not make a driver useless. You can't judge a driver an one performance.

Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
well what a turn around 3 of the 4 leader in the standing not made Q3 this together with the track should make it already a good race tomorrow NOW analysis at end of Q2 the all 4 where out on track, but what has happened there, the only one manage to improve was massa enough to go q3, kubica close on his best, kimi till second to last lap was anyway improving even if still 1.5 sec out and lewis was not on the pace at all.
WHY? he was waiting for more dry weather (and want to put intermediate tyres) because of this he must have change between q1 and q2 the set up of the car to a more dry setting. Was a gamble that if was going to happened would have put him in pole as all the others would now have done in time to change set up between q2 and q3. But it did not get his way this time and we can consider this a wrong gamble to take.
True condition was changing second to second.
In comparison kimi in 2 lap at least go traffic and then in another a spin, it does not justify 14th but can explain why he missed q3.
Massa showed if somebody still need that he is improving race after race, and especially he deliver when needed.
Tomorrow if dry is hard for the guy from the back even if they can reach point; podium or winning is out of discussion (if rain or mix is a gamble),
but especially chicane 1 and chicane 2 are going to be a real risk in the middle of the pack.

Well, Vettel might pick up some points but I am not hoping for a win!!! or a podium.
Getting a pole is one thing while winning is other.Watch out for heikki, nick and massa as well as lewis, kimi and kubica coming from the back.
If it was so easy to get a win, then why would ferrari invest so much on their car.
Look at what happened to alonso in spain( before the engine blow up), well I think he would be fighting for P5 to P7.He might be very very light. Heikki might have a "okay"amount of fuel.Massa might be a liittle heavy. And lewis, kimi and kimi might go for a 1 stopper. If they do not make positions on the start then it will be very difficult to overtake cars.

I hope Allen is right by saying we can have a Japan 2005 style race. Its all set up perfectly for that.

btw if tomorrow is dry i dont think it can be that bad for kimi/lewis excitement. top 10 are all on a wet setup probably while the ones behind can adjust accordingly. that means they might be getting well over 10kph more on the straights. which should mean overtaking is made that bit easier

thats what i thought as well. bloody well hope so! one of the most exciting races ever. altough i hope there are no Alonso style FIA interventions. had enough of that c**p.Fergie1 wrote:I hope Allen is right by saying we can have a Japan 2005 style race. Its all set up perfectly for that.
the main problem for kimi and lewis i think is gonna be turn 1 imo. if they can get a good start the track is wide enough for them to make up a lot of positions too. Lewis and Pantano in 2006 made up 6 places at the start just like that.

Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
No, but Ali is making the point that Lewis was setting slow times on wets while Massa set his ballpark time on wets at the same time, while Lewis was 3 seconds slower.scermat wrote:i didnt say Massa did ****, i just said that Lewis's problem had nothing to do with his driving. Massa delivered when he needed to. lewis didnt. but his main issue wasnt driving ability but brain fade.
Im not blind, if you read my post you'll see i criticised Lewis more than anybody else.
In Ali's opinion therefore (and I agree with him) Lewis problem looked to be a complete lack of confidence and therefore pace. That seems to be our take on it anyway.
You probably paid particular attention to Mac's FP2 performance. Lewis didn't run much, did he? Do you reckon that has something to do with their pace? Maybe a bad wet set-up/general set-up? That would be my guess, because Lewis certainly isn't a slouch. But it wasn't just the fault of their decision making, something looked wrong with that car/in that cockpit.. so.. well, make your own conclusions. Which me and Ali did.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.
