The 2008 French Grand Prix is the eighth race of the 2008 Formula One season. It will be held on 20 June–22 June at Magny-Cours.

Canadian Grand Prix winner Robert Kubica of BMW Sauber leads the Championship by 4 points from Ferrari's Felipe Massa and McLaren-Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. 2 consecutive retirements have seen World Champion Kimi Räikkönen fall from Championship leader to 4th, 3 points behind Massa and Hamilton.

Scuderia Ferrari lead surprise package BMW Sauber by 3 points in the Constructors' Championship, with McLaren-Mercedes a further 17 points behind.

The 2007 French Grand Prix was won by Kimi Räikkönen of Ferrari, followed by team-mate Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes[1].

Two other former winners of the French Grand Prix are in the field for the race this year, 2000 winner David Coulthard will race for Red Bull Racing and 2005 winner Fernando Alonso will drive a Renault.

The majority of French Grand Prix wins since 1994 have gone to seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher who won this Grand Prix 8 out of the next 12 years that he raced. The race has been won by a European driver since 1985, when Brazillian Nelson Piquet won for Brabham. His son will race for Renault this year.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton will be docked ten places on the grid for the race after causing a collision with Kimi Räikkönen in the previous round, the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix.[2]

To start off the discussion, who will have the upper hand? Ferrari is always good here but the McLaren is good on the sweeping corners this year (does Magny Cours have them? I forgot :p ).

I'm expecting a Räikkönen win, maybe a Ferrari 1-2 and one of the McLaren drivers on podium for third, Actually Hamilton, don't know about Kovailainen. I think he can score some points. I think BMW Sauber will be strong in France to fight for the podium. The fight between Toyota, Red Bull and Williams will also be interesting. Renault is out of position to score points. However, Alonso could be a positive surprise.

I agree I expect to see a strong showing by the Ferrari especially Kimi, Ii do noy know about Hamilton he does have that 10 place grid penalty, so even if he qualifies first he will end up in 10th.

I think we will see another Raikkonen win here but we might see Hamilton on the podium if he has a good race. Flag:##

Firstly never directly hotlink any images from other sites ..always upload to imageshack/photobucket..etc.
If you start gp topic try to fetch as much as possible information ..current standings ..track info ..bit previous history ..fastest lap ..schedule ..countdown! ..blabla lalala!!!

Technically ..Ferrari's Holey Nose & Wheel cover will be back and also their are some planned upgrades bits.If race is going to be normal then result will be normal == Ferrari 1-2 :p

Will be interesting to see Hamilton recovery & damage limitation drive

Magny Cours has been a Ferrari Track for the last years. I don't think that this has changed. Ferrari should win this race. Hopefuly it will be an exciting fight between the 3 top teams. Last year only the fight Alonso/Heidfeld was great...
Looking forward...

Are you kidding me? From far behind? Maybe he can start 11th but I think it will be something 15th or 16th because very very big shunt of fuel, and that means basically that in this circuit, you don't have more than one good overtaking place and Hamilton isn't Kimi. Hamilton doesn't have same skills than Kimi has. He doesn't have same nerves and coolnes than Kimi has. That's why he screwed last season pretty sure WDC. Yes I think hes overrated and he is one big bum. We saw it in Canada. Even though he has faster car than everypody front of him except Ferrari's he doesn't have even change to pass them with his very heavy car, it has been seen before if you have heavy car vs. light car, even if that heavier fuel loaded car is faster, it doesn't get pass, and that means, those driver who leads the pack, cuite quickly escapes about 20 to 40 seconds lead compared to Hamilton.

If everything goes right, Kimi shouldn't have trouble to take this home, Heikki could get second place just from Massa. So hopefully Heikki second Massa third. Flag:## Flag:##

Kubica won't win!! He can't do it on his own (means he needs 3 drivers to fail: Raikkonen, Massa and Hamilton) Just hoping who will be behind the Ferrari's, cause they are going to win. I think Kubica, hoping Hamilton can make it up to 5th, will make me a bit happy, podium will feel like a win for sure... Kovalainen and Heidfeld, I expect them to fail again, in a really fast car...
