Only thing that surprised me was Kimi's relative lack of speed all through qualy, and even if he was a bit heavier than Massa in Q3 he should have been up there.

They are good friends, Alonso told about him phoning Robert at the hospital after his accident in Canada last year and when Robert answered he was already out of there, and told Alonso he couldn't talk on the phone because he was driving!

Alonso almost fainted. :@:2

:shhh:

The Spanish pilot Alonso said to be happy about the pole of Robert Kubica, who considers "a great friend":

"He is a pilot who always won in all previous cathegories. When he arrived last year I thought that he was going to be fighting for top things. This year has found the way to prove he is one of the best pilots. "
"I always said he was the best of the new generation. Finally things are going well. He has what he deserves. In karts he has won everything, he is of the same generation as Rosberg and Hamilton and always has beaten them. So it is normal that now, in Formula One, he also wins. He is a great friend and hopefully i´ll be able to fight with him F1. And have fun" he added.

Alonso explained: "We play cards together often at night. In Australia he was quite annoyed because lost the 'pole' in that last curve. He was thinking about that. Tonight, I think we´ll play cards again, he will not be so annoyed with that mistake and will enjoy more. "

Interesting, I didn't know these two were friends :) I'm glad Kubica got the pole though, he really deserved it.

** I was there at montreal, NASTY crash that he got into there.

Supposedly Kimi suffers from a middle ear infection according to Lauda. This could explain his lack of pace this weekend. Even if he has a average race this weekend, he'll probably rebound by Spain

I'm not very happy with the way today went, but fourth place is still a good starting position for the race, given the potential we have. The balance of the car was not perfect right from this morning and I struggled a bit to be as quick as I would have liked to be and could have been. Now we have to look at the data to try and find out why. I think that tomorrow in the race, when points are up for grabs, I will be very strong. I think we might have made different choices in terms of strategy, but let's wait and see in the race if that's really the case.

I thought that that was his last race forsure #Fear but all it was was a mild concusion and a twisted ankle as I can remenber. Though I always had faith in this dude cause in his third race he was third place.

Yeah i think your right... was a good pole lap but i can't see him winning!
I can see massa winning if he makes no mistakes.. we all know hamilton is a good starter and raikkonen is excellent at chasing down a leader.. should be an interesting race.. my prediction is... 1.massa 2.hamilton 3.raikkonen 4.kubica

Congrats to Kubica! Definitely well deserved.

I can't stand Massa he is one cocky pathetic SOB. What is with this cocky "Oh I've done amazing laps all the time but traffic killed me" bullcrap? You notice Peter Windsor only asked him one question and moved straight to Lewis. He is not fit to be a Ferrari driver. I hope tomorrow he chokes again so we can see his cocky ass show his constipated look.

I hope tomorrow's result will be Kubica 1, Lewis 2, Kimi 3.

God watching that qualifying interview makes me mad. Massa got no class at all doesn't have any superstar personality in him. He needs to get the hell out.

Why can't Kubica win? They have been 2nd for the past two races and remember during qualifying in Australia even with that huge slide Kubica made at the end he still got the provisional pole.

BMW all the way. I'm tired of seeing Massa's constipated face. And Lewis is good and all, but I'm really pulling for a 3 way battle in the championship this year. BMW can make their mark tomorrow.

Go Robert!
