Re: Rate the 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix
1 - Best Driver Perez, hands down. 2 - Best Team Ferrari, oddly enough. They made the right calls with Alonso on a day where almost every other team seemed to run into trouble. 3 - Best Overtake I can't remember an individual one, but all of the overtakes going through 5 into 6 were awesome to me-re...

Re: Didnt make it?
Very true...and a great sportscar driver for Mercedes when they were running in the late 90s. The Zakspeed color scheme I liked-if they ever ran as fast as they looked...MP4/4#12 wrote:Bernd Scheneider, an awful F1 attempt with a terrible car > followed by a wonderful DTM carrer.

Back to the forum!
I'm not really new (joined in 2009) but I've been gone for a while. To be honest, living in the US I'm an Indycar & F1 fan, and the tragedy in Las Vegas in October turned me off from racing for a while. However, I've come back to racing, and I'd forgotten how nice people are on this forum (as compar...

Re: Qantas Australian Grand Prix
If I had to guess, maybe they have the number there to differentiate steering wheels if the drivers use different configurations? I seem to remember drivers doing things like that in the past. I think maybe Damon Hill & Jacques Villeneuve had different gear change preferences (my memory says that Vi...

Re: Qantas Australian Grand Prix
To avoid being a spoiler, I'll just say that I hope the info from Atlas is accurate, as it would make the season very interesting! The Friday debrief http://www.f1zone.net/news/the-friday-debrief/13005/ Meanwhile, I saw this on Atlas from someone who claims to know a lot of engineers RBR: engineers ...

Re: Best British Driver?
I voted for Clark too, but could have made a case for Stewart or Moss too. It's so hard to compare eras, though-most of Clark's career occured before Stewart was in F1, and Clark & Moss overlapped some, but by the time Clark was really getting going Moss had his accident at Goodwood...

Re: Didnt make it?
I guess it depends on your definition of "made it". Brundle certainly had a top drive at Benetton in 1992, so he can't (IMO) be considered in the same scenario as Bourdais or McNish. Zanardi is a better comparison, but unfortunately for Alex (I say that as a fan of him when he was in CART) he didn't...

Re: Thoughts of an American F1 Fan
There are a few of us out there-I was at the Brickyard 400 last weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and did see some F1 hats and shirts in the crowd...few, but some.sdutt wrote:yes, i agree. it is unfortunate. I am yet to meet an American interested in F1.

Re: Thoughts of an American F1 Fan
how about an f1 race in the u.s. but this time an oval race for a change......... Although there is precedent for that (the Indianapolis 500 was counted as a world championship event from 1950 to 1960), I don't think that would work at all. Part of what makes F1 different from open wheel motorsport...

Re: Massa let pass Alonso (Do you Agree ?)
Famous quote from Enzo Ferrari himself. "When Ferrari wins, our cars win. When Ferrari loses, our drivers lose." I guess that shows how deep that concept of how to run an F1 team runs within Ferrari. Personally, I hated the call. Racing is unpredictable, and Alonso should have had to find a way pas...

Austin F1 track ? http://f1newsaustin.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/f1_track-640x374.png It reminds me a bit of the Hungaroring, unfortunately....but maybe that's b/c that GP is this weekend. I'll believe it when I see it-living in the US, F1 just doesn't get any coverage at all, nor does open whe...

Re: The most impressive crash ever
Kubica in Canada was pretty bad, but the car held up pretty well. A lot of people have mentioned Greg Moore's accident-I saw that live (on tv) and really felt (and was right) that he was gone instantly-it's the most vicious accident I've ever seen. The men (and women) who drive these cars really are...

Re: Best driver never to win a race
In my mind Mika Salo is better than Jos and Karl. Salo at least had a more substantive career than Wendlinger...and arguably won in Germany when he was subbing for Schumacher in 1999. Heidfeld, to me, has never really been close enough to count-I don't remember (though I could be wrong!) him leadin...

Re: Worse Grand Prix
It's a great circuit to drive on...But the races there are ALWAYS booring. Exept the 86 GP with Ayrton Senna and Piquet battling :) I agree with terga; on the f1 games I have, I love driving the Hungaroring, but the races do seem to be boring, overall. Here's hoping for an eventful one tomorrow, th...
