Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

I guess this is the final and official confirmation for the speculation we chose to adopt: Q: (Panos Diamantis – Car and Driver) Of the four championship contenders you are the only one who had to change from Michelin to Bridgestone tyres. How much of a handicap do you think this was and can you ple...

As a Schumacher's fan myself, I'm the last one to disagree on that :rule#

But he's not around anymore so it's interesting to look on the young guys now...

Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

Alonso is a great driver (I'm not talking about his character!), and with his old style he was amazingly fast. Without that old style of his, I think he is still great, but not as great as Hamilton, who is doing a great job. Visually, it's possible to see how he uses everything (steering, braking, b...

I watched him in Hungary, and it appears he does has some of Alonso's old driving style.

He looks less aggressive and effective than Alonso was with this style, but I think you're right.

Re: Do you wish F1 was more competitive?

Well it's MUCH more competitive now than it was in say 1988, 2001, 2002, 2004 for example. Now we have at least two teams fighting. So it's an improvement, right? I agree. There are a few races this season, that every one of them (alone) was more eventful than an entire season of a few years back (...

Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

I think if we could have had access, in some way, to data from his car (when he was at Renault) and look at his steering, brake and acceleration graph displayed together, it could have told us much more about what went on in his cockpit then.... That would have been very very intersting to see... B...

Re: Do you wish F1 was more competitive?

Overtaking between 2 drivers who are relatively close to each other's level (when considering their cars as well) will just not happen. I wish it would, but I've been wishing that since '96, when I started watching F1. The thing is, these are top drivers of the world. They have the ability to maximi...

Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

On SpeedTV the commentators were talking about how Alonso's turn-in was aggressive in the Renault. When he got to McLaren, he had to drive smoother. I guess it all has to do with the tires and the wear to grip ratio. Also, it seems to me that the Michelins were a lot better than the Bridgestones, t...

Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

I saw an analysis (they had telemetry) in one of the F1 mags that said he turns in much harder and sharper than any of the other drivers. That was 2 seasons ago though. That's exactly what I'm talking about. And this was the situation up to the current season, as far as my eyes can tell... It's ver...

Re: Fernando Alonso's driving style

After yesterday's qualifying I don't think he's much of a driver anymore, at least character wise, though I hope it's not all his fault This thread wasn't supposed to deal with the Hungarian qualifying... It's already a topic elsewhere, and I also posted comments there... I just wanted to discuss p...
