Re: The Kimi Nascar Monster Cool Lounge

Some things to consider. First, the move up from the Truck series to the Nationwide series is a big step. The trucks have more downforce and are generally easier to drive. This is intentional since it is the entry level class for the upper levels of Nascar. Second, these cars change in handling duri...

Re: Increasing F1 relevance to those that pay the bills

I agree not likely for a number of reasons but a reduction in downforce is and has been considered to some degree for a long time. The question is how much. Perhaps my approach is over the top extreme but the point was to inspire some thought and open a line of communication. The short term result w...

Increasing F1 relevance to those that pay the bills

The area where F1 designers have been spending most of their energy and money has been in the field of aerodynamic downforce because it is the area that pays the most when it comes to lap times. It is also the area that bears the smallest connection to the real world for an automobile producer and t...

Why restricting fuel weight or volume of fuel makes sense

If it were up to me I would set a limit on fuel weight or volume but no other restrictions on engine development. This would allow competitors to choose between a large engine turning slower and a smaller engine turning faster. It would allow forced induction. It would even allow experimentation wit...

Re: If you could make the regulations regarding design....

No engine restrictions but a limit on how many gallons of fuel could be used. No restrictions on the choice of fuel, methanol, gasoline, diesel, nitromethane, and all other imaginable compounds allowed. No restrictions on displacement, number of cylinders, forced induction allowed but not required. ...

Re: When was F1's Golden Era?

For me it would be hard to beat the period from the mid-fifties to the mid- sixties. The immediate prewar era would have been something to see as well.

Re: When was F1's Golden Era?

i think the answer to this question depends on the age of the person giving the answer. For me, the golden era of F1 would predate all driver aids including ground effects and wings. Modern aerodynamic aids make very high cornering speeds possible but limit racing. Once a car gets close enough for a...

Re: The Kimi Nascar Monster Cool Lounge

To give some indication of how sensitive these cars can be, tire pressure adjustments are often made in quarter pound increments at any of the four corners of the car during a pit stop. This simple adjustment can often change a bad car into a good one or go the other way. Now consider that if the ca...

Re: The Kimi Nascar Monster Cool Lounge

He is not the first to burn his feet in a Nascar Stock car. Back in the 1960's the old timers often wore Cowboy boots with thick leather soles and large heels for footwear. Others crushed up styrofoam coffee cups and put them in their boots for insulation. I am not sure what the current trick is, bu...

Re: The Kimi Nascar Monster Cool Lounge

Hi guys. It seems as though many Kimi fans were disappointed with todays results. I watched the race on the TV as I do every week and you should be aware that his performance impressed most and maybe all experienced Nascar fans. He has great car control and drove very well today. Oval Stock car raci...
